well that's it really, if you think about it , it makes sense - easy contact with potential sponsors and access to prizes for a raffle .

So why not?

put in general hardware to get some real attention

it's a good idea, but i can't help feeling this would have been better placed in PC-games.

It's a good idea, I've been to a few lans but they were smaller lans thatmultiplay hosted which built up quite a good community. I'm not to keen on the iseries, too many "PRO GAMERS!!!".

+1 for this

Even as someone who still doesn't play games I think this is a really good idea.

Is anything other than a large room and several routers needed?

Some organization, transport and stuff, everything costs - but I'm 100% sure that everyone will be more than happy to pay lets say a fiver or a tenner for this to happen if needed - at least I wouldn't mind.

They have access to computers too which means u dont bring ur own and they could get them licences for games (do they do it for games?) that allow one copy to be installed on multiple machines for a lan?

not exactly, its a shop. You cant use machines that you intent to sell as 'new'. I think id go to one.

It's a lot of effort for not a lot of profit. A lot of effort.

I'd definitely attend one, but I can understand how they couldn't really be bothered ;)

Yeah, there's a little more to it than finding a big room and sticking some switches in there :p *painful memories*

I can provide a pretty solid dial-up connection if we go ahead with this, should be enough for at least 15 of us to connect to :)

I'd be up for organising it if it had OcUK backing (and by that I mean real backing - both financial and organisational). The fragM events went pretty well and we were gearing up for organising a 400 person lan in the north at one point...so I'm fairly familiar with the issues/etc.

We used to host meets and such down here from OcUK... I'm sure MatBlack did a Lan meet as well, might be wrong though.

I very seriously doubt that Mark would put financial backing into something as trivial as a lan party, but if members are up for it and someone wants to organise it like last time I'm sure it would work well :)
