Homeowner fights off knife-wielding burglars, gets 30 months; burglar spared jail

Except that is not what is being talked about here is it. Whats being talked about is that a guy who was threatned at knifepoint to be killed along with his wife and kids. Bit different to spilling a pint or getting your car shunted.

Hows it different, yes it is a more serious crime but why should that entitle the victim to decide the punishment and administer it? At the time of the beating nobodys life was endagered Mr Hussain had just decided to enact retribution for a crime which to be frank is no different to me punching some one for spilling my pint. The alloted punishment in the country for robbery and false inprisonment is not a massive beating to be administered in the street by anyone who fancies joining in. IWhat you propose is not a justice system its a fudal system which would breed violence.

Yeah spot on, tie my family up dancing around with knifes they better be prepaired not to leave in the same physical state in which they entered. I think he got off lightly even if he will be dribbling for the rest of his life, he shouldnt have been there in the first place, picked on the wrong people this time, educated tbh.

He should have just caught the thief with his mob, but only give him a light beating. then wait for police. While I do think removing the thief from the gene pool would be best.

You asked questions in a public forum.

I answered them in a reasonable manner.

You burbled out some condescending sarcasm castigating me for answering the questions you asked.

And you say I'm moody?

How amusing.

I could, but that would be a waste of my time. Perhaps someone else will do it for you.

I'm glad I amuse you, it fills my heart with glee, and my mind with all sorts! :D Glad you're not wasting your time on me, I'm not worth the effort - I'd just use and abuse you anyway. I also rather enjoy your quasi seriousness and big words, makes me hot. Keep going!!

God I love GD sometimes! :D

O.o

It's a bit early to be at the cooking brandy isn't it FF? :p

Would have been funny if after they'd beaten the **** half to death, they all stood round the bloody mess and said "Howzat?"

I want a stronger deterrant inplace to discourage people from thinking burgling your house is not without risk, if that includes forfeiting their rights to a functioning brain then fair enough. Don't particularly care if it takes place in the residence or not.

Rubbish. Gathering a gang to hunt someone down and beat them to death (which is what he tried to do) is not self defence and any country with a legal system not based on outlawry and blood feuds would have convicted him.

Ooh a gang, sounds scary but in reality was just him and his brother.

I'm still waiting for someone to provide me with a comparable case in another country where the person using reasonable force in self-defence was convicted and sent to prison.

He chased the man down the street and beat him with a bat. If he had hit the man over the head while in his house defending himself and his family, there wouldn't be such an issue, he still may have had problems if he continually battered the man who was unconcious on the floor.

Even defending yourself in your own home has blurred lines as to what is deemed acceptable.

He beat the living **** out of someone, of course that deserves imprisonment. He went way too far.

Well yes, but no in this case IMO.

If someone busts into your house, ties up your family and says they will die then I think it's fair game to give them some beats.

Good on him I say, and well done for smashing him in with a cricket bat, shame he didnt die really.
People who break into people homes with knives and threaten to kill your family deserve to be dead. So as far as I am concerned he shouldn't have had a jail sentence and the filth that threaten to kill his family should be left to rot in jail.

Two wrongs don't make a right, I see two acts of crime here, unfortunately I'd personally place the gang beating and subsequent brain damage as the worse of the two.

Tbh, giving him a whack with a cricket bat was tough, but the ****er brought it upon himself.

However enlisting other men who had not been directly involved to beat a man who would have been twitching on the ground (hospitalised for weeks) with metal poles was going far to far.

Can't be going into revenge territory, especially when it involves others.

Fair sentence for the homeowner, bad decision for the burgular.

People who give other people permanent brain damage with metal bars and cricket bats deserve to die :)?
