Deaths on Britain's Roads

Funny how it says "New drivers aged between 17 and 25 stand out. Passing a driving test does not provide the necessary experience and judgments needed for today's busy roads."

Yet about 3/4 of the deaths by 17-25 year olds on the chart happen at night when they are most likely drunk, which has nothing to do with driving experience.

Im sure most of them aren't drunk.

69 deaths in avon and somerset and get this, biggest group is car driving 31-50.

So much for young drivers or motorbikes.

what a surprise by targeting young drivers you have moved the deaths from young drivers to older drivers. Not since 2004 has young drivers outweighed older drivers in avon and somerset. Just like focusing on speeding which causes very few crashes. We now have a huge general bad driving and lack of concentration incidents.

Propably because the gap between 31-50 is larger than 17-25, and more people can afford to drive when they are at that age than youngsters.

.. and people are frightened of flying.

No matter what the statistics will say, I'll always have more fear of dieing in a plane crash than in my car, at least in the car I'm in control and me getting an accident would likely be my fault, in a plane you are powerless to do anything. If the plane fails like the rudder breaks off you're dead. It's never your fault as a passenger really.

What I find funny is the ''road type''. Surely this proves that the limit on motorways is way too low and can easily be upped and that reducing the limit on there is retarded ?

Because a lot of motorway drivers go over the limit anyway, so say the limit was put up to 80, many drivers would still think they could get away with 90+, etc.

I am one of them :p. Imo 90 mph is the nicest cruising speed on the motorway, not too slow but also not that fast that the economy suffers a lot and not that fast that braking for something in front of you takes ages.

At night on an empty 3 lane straight&flat motorway only being allowed to drive 70 mph is stupid imo.
