Think i'm developing some sort of FPS snobbery!? Currently bought Crysis Warhead and having great fun with the Crytek engine, the levels remind me of the scene from the film Predator where they have to assault a village. Its just a no nonsense FPS! Not the best game ever but will do for the stop gap.
Alternatively I just cant get into COD:MW, got bored after 2 levels!! As such I have no plans on getting MW2, its clearly a console focused FPS. Previous COD games were great, they were all based in the WW1/2 period and so were the reason to buy! However COD:MW1/2 are just an alternative to what is now an over produced genre of FPS. Further more its too heavily scripted for me, i'd prefer to watch a film if i wanted that much script!
Its been too long for the daddy of the this FPS genre and thankfully DICE have seen the error of their ways and are releasing Battlefield Bad Company 2 to the PC platform in the new year. Hopefully we will have 32/64 online player support with dedicated servers and modding capabilities. If BF3 takes it time in development then we may be lucky to get the 'Project Reality' team updating their mod to the new frostbite engine used in BC2, then we can all again be in FPS heaven... and of course ignoring all this ported console COD rubbish.
To anyone considering buying COD:MW2 and wanting a decent online shooter for the PC then consider this; aimbots are unfortunately part of PC gaming, but if you play an FPS purposely for online multi-player that doesn't allow you to have dedicated server support then you lose the ability to get server admin's to correctly ban the cheaters and so also you lose the community that goes with dedicated servers!
