Yup. He was so concerned with how it would look to other people - ie it must be super newish looking - he lost sight of the reasons he tired of his previous 318i. Meaning he is now back in the same position he was in 18 months ago, even though there is more chance of hell freezing over than him ever admitting it :( It's obvious in that every time it gets brought up he has a completely different list of reasons as to why he didnt just get the car he really wanted.

No. Because the reason remains the same and has not changed at all. You're saying it has changed each time because that's what you want to see and want others to see because on most other things you're always right.

I don't use my car for regular social driving, I only use it for work purposes and visiting clients whom I shoot for and drives up North or Mids to visit family. I don't even take my car with me when visiting friends locally so quite how you fit me into that typical stereotype is bizarre but quite fascinating.
 
Bit of a waste of time spanking £20k down on 3 litre twin turbo really if all you use it for is commuting and driving for work and you dont drive it for social. Nice E92 320d M Sport will do the trick.
 
If that were an option then I'd rather the Mercedes C250CDI BlueEfficiency for a bit more than the 320D M sport because it looks better inside and out, is a lot more powerful (204BHP vs 174BHP, 500Nm vs 349Nm) and it handles as briskly as my E46 Sport coupe does.

But I want one that I know will still be fun 18months on instead of cycling this change again so soon after.

You said that last time but you still came back for more, what gives? All I can understand is that you have some kind of snobbish view that BMWs are 'above' drifting, or something like that. Utter nonsense. I suggest you turn your eye to IDS and see how many beemers are drifted at a pro level.

I think his point is that the chances of a 200SX buyer being really into drifting are higher than the chances of a 330Ci buyer being really into drifting. I thought this much was obvious.

OK I'll bite.

I'll ignore most of what you've written as you don't have the first idea what I think. It's got nothing to do with being snobby. I was pointing out that abuse for one car isn't abuse (in the litteral sence) for another.

It appears you have the snobby view as you seem to regard 200SX as a lesser car to a BMW. I was using the Nissan as a popular example of a car used to drift. If someone was selling a drift prepared 200SX then photo's of it drifting would probably help sell the car. Someone posting pics of a 330i in standard trim is not an ideal way of selling a car.

Feel free to come back with something to insite further pointless discussion :)

TBH the car looks ok. I've no doubt that it is not going to be a minter, but at 5k? Who cares, its a throwaway pretty capable decent car with service history. What BMW in this price bracket wont have taken a fair bit of abuse?

Take it in context, its £5000 for a £30,000+ complex 3.0 BMW coupe. In this context you cannot expect a minter nor one which has not received abuse.

It's not a lot for the car it is - if it's all the money in the world its not the car to buy.
 
I'm surprised he's even managed to get the back end out. But then it looks wet so that would help. That 3.0l does not have enough power for proper drifts unless you take it at insane speed.

Hardly full spec either, no xenons.

Maybe not but that doesn't change the fact a £5000 car is not a 'throwaway' item for most people, be it a Rover or a BMW.

If it is not then a BMW 330ci is not the car you would be looking at in the first place. In the context of the car, it is not a lot of money at all and as such i would fully expect it to have taken plenty of abuse in its life. Hence me saying that i wouldn't necessarily write that car off just because of the owner clearly having had some fun with it.
 
Jez's point is that if you wish to buy a car like this at a price like this you must be prepared to write its value off given the potential for enormous bills and limited resale appeal when you've finished with it. IE, if £5k is a lot of money for you then an 8 year old 330Ci with multiple previous owners probably isnt a good idea.

Whereas if you fancy a new toy and £5k isnt all that, why not?
