GT5 demo December 17 !!!!!

Thing is some great players on pad will be as fast if not faster than some skilled wheel players.
It will be interesting to see if the top times on this are indeed one sided regards controller used.

btw no excuse for no room for a wheel
A wheelstandpro easily folds away.

Oh I know if a player keeps at it he/she can become very fast. It can be a steep learning curve though.

I just can't get the tiny adjustments needed to steering on a sim with a pad. Then I'm not much good with a wheel lol.

How much does a wheelstandpro cost?

About £100
Thiers one up for grabs on GTForums with this new track/time Trial.
Someone that simply posts a time in the running thread over there will win the wheelstand, simple as that.

It will be a random selection nothing to do with who was fastest.

Have to admit.. That does look like the ideal bit of kit for a G25. (Don't make me spend more money dam you! lol)

I think I will wait till GT5 and then decide.

How does this latest build feel with the wheel btw?

Great bit of kit for the money, don,t know how i managed without one,i was put off using my dfp untill i found this stand, and it folds away nicely under my comp desk, and only takes a few minutes to set up again.
Highly recommended for the price.

Some of you guys are a real laugh, honestly from whingers about the crowds not being improved and comments that it looks like GT5P etc.
Are you just nit picking?

is it nit picking if its one of the biggest spoiling factors of the game i wonder?

The problem is more with the shadows tbh but i wouldnt want to give someone the impression of oh go out and get a 1080p display cause it will show NO jaggies, its simply not the case. Its also VERY evident when you buy a new car and the car drives upto the screen.

See Door Shadow

See Wheel

Fair enough my onscreen incar steering wheel is almost 30" alone and i sit quite close to the game but this imo is one of the biggest spoiling factors for the game.

whoops!

Personally dont think spending £200 - £300 on a wheel and stand should be required to get the most out of any driving game (the add-on cost is completely disproportionate to the cost of the game however good the quality is)

I would love that gorgeous Porsche wheel and pedals etc, but for a £40 game (even 3 £40 games) its just not worth it for me personally

It isnt, the DFGT is more than capable...
Also depends how much your going to play racing games not really how many there are if it warrants spending so much on a wheel.
I have PC friends play only 1-2 games frequently but always upgrade their hardware every so often.

Also you didnt want the wheel that much you never entered the past GTF/FM3 paint compo that a guy from AVF won and had delivered this week.

P Digitial have not come out and said here you go folks this is our latest build of GT5, have they?

I dont watch the crowd when Im racing, normally I concentrate on the track and racing line or other cars around me. How it could be called one of the biggest spoiling factors of the game, mmmm yes its something many would wish gets improved but hardly something that effects the gameplay.

Do you enjoy Dirt 2 more because its got very good animated crowds?
If anything is a spoiling factor it is the jagged shadows particulary in the cockpit Ive always stated that. Other games also have similar jaggies mr miller however they dont do 16 cars with so many polys in this resolution at 60 frames do they.

Maybe youd be happier with nice crowds and 30fps or just 8 cars?

Just played the demo and I can't wait for the full game !!! cars do feel a bit light but should be fixed in the full release, I prefer this to forza !! got bored after two days of playing it !!!

Not being funny, but how can you enjoy GT but be bored of Forza? They are virtually identical in terms of what you do!

Not wanting to target a VS match here but FM3 has some serious silly ommissions/limations as a fun racer.

Some examples:
16 Vs 8 cars in races makes a big difference in SP.

Go do a series of quick races in FM3 in the FREE PLAY mode.
Select a car and track, okay now what else can you do?

Can you increase the difficulty further for that class of car you just chose?
Can you select your opponents to be in superior cars?
Can you select the track to have not 2 or 3 laps but 10?
Can you qualify or select a race start position?

Ive found myself playing the game and yes enjoying it but so far most of my fun has come from doing Time Trials particulary as the career mode seems rather easy has bored me quickly because of such and the above issues with the free play mode are disappointing.

Even the leaderboards are very lacking as well as mentioned on the last page.
Now is this the pinnacle of racing?

Really dont know what to think to this, the cars seem to skiddy and light, going round a light bend in 4th in a 370z (standard) at 5000rmp wouldnt mean the back end would kick out on a dry track. Its either all or nothing, to much back end action OTT, or your power is completly limited by the stupid traction control. Its better than the prologe but not much better.

Graphic modeling of cars inside and outside are excellent, the best yet. Tracks arent anything special and the crowds well we all know.
I came away thinking Forza is a lot better, so I thought to prove this to myself I'd give it a quick go.
In return the cars on forza almost seem over heavy now and if they tie up the loose edges GT5 will be better.

I meant more in simple terms, they are both 'realistic' console racers, where you go through races to win money to buy better cars/upgrades. In that respect, if you enjoy one then you should enjoy the other.

I find Forza 3 to be equally as fun as any previous GT game, I don't look at them in the detail you have gone into.

Currently on a console I'd say yes, that is until GT5 comes out. There is no reason not to think that GT5 will be the best console racing game considering its huge development time and probably huge budget to go with it. Anything less than the best in every area of the game for me won't be a game breaker but will be somewhat of a let down.

Just popping over my brothers to play this in a few mins, my PS3 is no longer, so will be intrigued to see how this baby stacks up...

If it's good enough, I may just pop out and get a Slim earlier then expected..

I've been massively enjoying FM3, I was getting bored of driving games until that came out, and although not perfect, it's mixed enough up and put in some superb physics that it's re-invigorated my enjoyment of these games..

If GT5 is on par/above this, well it's a sure fire cert..
