GT5 demo December 17 !!!!!

Just tried it and even as a cut back demo or whatever its meant to be i thought it was utter pap. Sucks because il no doubt buy gt5 when it comes out.

I rather play some 16bit racing game with me testi in a blendtec then play this tripe

regarding peps saying "it's only demo", then consider the forza 3 demo to final version, there weren't much difference

Forza 3 demo came out what a few weeks before release and was a game demo, this again is 4 months before release and while a demo of sorts its mainly for a competition.

You'd be mad to dismiss GT5..

FM3 is great, the handling 'nuance' when on the limit is the best I've experienced on a console, the physics on a technical level are superb.
However, FM3 falls down in that some grip levels aren't correct etc for the car, so compared to real life, some cars aren't quite as expected, but at least if you ignore this, the experience is top notch.
GT5P on the other hand is less sophisticated in the physics department IMO, but they did get the grip levels right most of the time etc, so it made for a still entertaining experience that was close enough to real life to not worry. It's main let down for me was the physics don't react to the 'nuances' of control, with weight transfer when coming off the brakes back on the accelerator, the transitions where a bit dumbed down, making it far too predictable and dare I say too consistent.
By the looks of things, GT5 so far seem to have mixed things up, I'm sure it'll have the correct grip levels and differential behaviour for all cars, and it'll just need a few more things being computed in the physics equation and I think it'll be very convincing..

Don’t get me wrong, if the demo has cracked the frankly poo handling of Prologue, it’ll be on my 2010 wish list for sure!

Regarding your points on grip - I’ve never actually driven any of the cars depicted in these games, so there’s no way I can confirm that one is better then the other in this respect, although I can say that GT5P got very annoying with the tyre squeal noise; that just sounded daft and seemed to kick in far to quickly. At least with FM2 and 3, the grip seemed to start acting up when you’d expect it – too fast mid-corner or when the tyre temperature got into the orange/red zone.

I really hope that GT5 turns out to be more than just a nice looking tech demo, and ends up being the racing sim of the decade.

Just tried it, no clutch support at all with the G25 from what I can tell which is annoying. FFB feels really strong on the simulation setting though:) Graphics & sound pretty much the same as Prolouge, physics seem more sorted though.

Oh & I have no chance of getting in the top 20:o

hmm, Im confused...

What are people expecting exactly? They expect to beable to open up the door in the side of their HD screen and step in? Which FYI would be awesome...

My thoughts are it's got slightly better graphics than Forza 3 on the cars and tracks, which was to be expected. the crowds as said are a little strange, hopefully temporary, maybe something to do with keeping the download small?

Simulation side though I still feel is great and better than competition, Just need to drop the over the top screeching as said by many.

Hopefully clutch support and damage will be seen in a future demo.

4 Months is like 2 weeks considering how long this game has been in production compared to Forza 3.

Does anyone playing it think it will not be out in March?

Us lot in the UK will not see it released until June/July maybe even later.. I'm not making the same mistake I did with Prologue and get the Jap version, couldn't understand any of it :D

i think people expected a one track demo with improved handling and graphics over gt5p, and id think that's a fair expectation really.

perhaps this is still laregly using the gt5p build. perhaps.:o

You have a point. I guess what I meant is that it isn't the average demo, as it's been designed for a competition rather than showcasing the game.

Why waste the opportunity not to showcase the game though ? Unless of course PD really think this does showcase their game... We see this all the time on here, a demo comes out, people say dont worry the full game will be a different thing, but very rarely is the full version any different.

Ok I accept the full game will have a stack of cars and tracks, but the key component of a driving game is the feeling it gives. This demo is giving you that, and so far people seem disappointed....
