Thanks for the info i thought as much. So what does this mean i gotta contact OCUK for false advertising or alienware for putting the wrong drive in the laptop.
Its most likely that OcUK have been misled as well to be fair, it may even be they've been supplied a mix of drives, so don't treat OcUK as the criminals, yes they have thier issues but in this case it's definately far more likely an AW ****up, and not OcUK trying to mislead you!
I just received an email from OCUK offering to fit a drive in the laptop .....OR.... £60 money back seeing as how alienware are pricing the optical drive for £99 i opted for the drive to be put in.
Do you guys know how long ocuk usually take to fit something like this in and return it.
Would i have to pay to send the item back? Its not really fair if i have to pay to send something back if OCUK sent me the wrong item in the first place.

If OCUK are offering to fit the correct drive that was advertised, then they should be arranging and paying for the collection and return of the system.
That's the 'least' they should do for a customer who's just spent £1,600.00.

I hope OCUK are on the same page as you when it comes to customer satisfaction. I have been using them for over 5 years now for all my computer needs and I haven't had a single problem till now so I'm hoping this doesn't happen often.
well I shall see what they say tomorrow if they answer emails on weekends not sure if they do.
Ive just recived a m15x directly from dell, and tbh i have had nothing but good support from them. Ive spoke to S_Patel through the whole reder process and he has been nothing but helpful. Even giving me a few free upgrades.
The issues with Alienware/Dell usually ensue when something is wrong with a machine, rather than the purchase process itself. There are enough reports beyond my own to know they have issues in this regard.
my old area 51 laptop that i not long sold on had a fault arise with it.
called up, gave them the service tag. courier picked it up the next day and laptop was back to me 10 days later fixed no hassle.
Its the same with any company really people have problems. But you hear about dell ones more ofter as more people buy from them than any other company. The % of unhappy customers however you will probaly fine is the same.
I think the problems are a bit more recent than that. The Ireland base and support has gone the way of the dodo for example, and its now based out of eastern europe.
Yes bigger companies have issues, but I do find it strange that several people I'd chatted to randomly, who developed issues and had to send machines back at similar times as I did also got hell on earth, and there are a lot of people with similar stories over the last year or so since Dell started to take a more heavy handed approach in Alienware.
There are other big issues they've had as well recently which resulted in MANY people with issues, but some searching should turn those up easily.
