Different Hanns.G 28" model now stocked?

It's very difficult to compare like with like, but the screen quality I would say is as good which surprised me to be honest as I went from a 19" Viewsonic to the 24" Dell to this one each one gets better , yes you don't get the USB hub or card reader compared to the Dell. The bezel and stand are like all the new LCD TV's black piano finish, I see they are out of stock now.

Better still if you could see someone else one you will be bowled over by the size and quality of the screen.:D

All I can say there is no distortion on the Horizontal and vertical, everything seems to be VERY clear and the colours nice and vivid, all web pages (all those which fill the screen like the overclockers web site on one of my photos ) comes out nice and clear like the Dell it's very difficult to make a comparison to the Dell as this monitor fills up your line of sight , I am not a gamer so I can't comment on that, but am in the process of downloading Dirt 2 which came free with my ATI 5850 card, so I will comment on that if and when I get it downloaded!

Even editing photos is a breeze and using the word processor the text is nice and black with no shadowing , as I said in my first post you might have to tinker with the brightness/contrast to get it how you want it, you would really need to see it to see how good it is (in my opinion)

That is the only thing buying this type of thing on the web it's very subjective. you might totally disagree with me, if you were to buy this but for the price & compared to the Dell 27" & my old 24" Dell it's a bargain!

I have to say I have just received this monitor from Overclockers, it was a impulse buy as my aging Dell 2407 which has now got a few faults( on/off switch doesn't work, have to swivel it around with an eraser to get on/off, and it's now starting to flicker) will be phoning Dell in the next week to get a replacement)

My Dell2407 has the same issue, power button is bust, as long as I can keep it perfectly vertical i can switch on and off no problem, but if it rotates then pressure fails to work unless one uprights the switch by twisting it again.
Must be a slighty dodgy botton fixture.

Never bothered to phone to get the issue corrected, uncertain what warrenty I had/may have on it for that particular fault.

Let me know how you get on with Dell.

I wonder If you guys could maybe take one or two pictures of the new hanns g in good lighting to show its new design / case and stand. How thick is it?

This is a fault the A4 revision had... I bought 4 screens and all 4 have developed this fault within weeks. I still have not claimed warranty for it as its a minor yet annoying thing.

I already have this, as i got it for my dad as a xmas present.
So i wanted to be nosey and take a look etc, to see what it was like.
It's a great monitor. but what i found when you have a webpage up that has a white background. on a slight Horizontal look either side. (left or right)
the white goes kind of an off white colour. goe even further, and it gets even more off white. not sure it's thats normal or faulty ?
Has a good look to see if you'res does the same.
Part from that, it's good monitor. looks very nice in game.

@up2nogooduk:
I would think that this is a normal "problem" related to the viewing angle of TN panels. The higher your angle the more off your color and contrast becomes.

i bought my a04 a few years ago and i have it on practically 24/7, not a single fault with it. Hah i remember going to ocuk at their old site for it, the guy with a goatee kept insisting i buy the new widescreen benq. God that guy was pushy but i stuck to my guns and bought the dell.

Cheers

Yea, nice photo :) I keep looking into getting one of these monitors, currently just game/watch films so this should be fine for me. I'll get one eventually lol

I can say I have found any problems at all, I have take some photos of Dirt 2 which I have just downloaded here is one of them, all you who have this game will recognise the start screen.

Get a white back ground up. and move ya head to the right, and look on the left side on the sceen and vise verse, to see if the white goes abt off white?
coz if yours don't, then this one has an issue. when i got this out the box, you could clearly see it's already been mouted to the base etc, and the settings we're all setup already. it kind of looked like it has been used.
the more i look at it, the more it bugs me. i shouldn't care to much, as it's a present for the old man :) but his worse then me lol.
should i rma it for a replaecment ? it was meant to be the older model anyway. but this looks fine :)

P.s. do you or anyone that has this new model, or the old hanns model. get backlight bleeding ? i just noticed this on a film. and also when the pc starts up hmmm, my other screen dont have this... i read up on it, and few people with the issue(on other LCD screen got replacements.

Your right there is a slight discolouration, but I think it's to do with viewing angle + the size of the screen, if you sit a little bit further away it doesn't show up, it's strange only the white and no other colour.

But to me it's doesn't detract for the size and value of this monitor :D

Did you see if there was any backlight bleeding ?
Yeah you can't really notice it sitting back abit. part from that it's great for gaming. :D my old man will love it.

Phoned Dell today on 0844 388 1000, all they asked for was the serial number of the monitor and what was wrong with the monitor , a replacement is due in the next few days, all they want back is the monitor NOTHING else not even the stand, it's a swap warrantee the courier will give me the new and take away the old one.
Time will tell

They just reference the serial against manufacture date, i have had 2 swapped and they just bring anew one they open it up and you take the screen out and leave the rest in.
