rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

If they try and get the song removed from the chart we quite clearly know the campaign won and they are clutching at straws.

I think the entire xfactor thing skews the xmas #1 sales, its timed perfectly to fit in around this period and its not by chance is it! It's really the whole idea behind the show when you look at how much £ they make from the busiest cd selling period of the year.

Not really. Timing with Christmas is a financial decision. You are confusing the decision to maximise sales with the intention to prevent the chart from reaching it's natural conclusion. RATM is not timed at Christmas for ANY reason, other than to prevent the natural Christmas No.1.

The X-factor run is timed to get the winners song out and get the Christmas number 1. If they were after TV ratings the show would end during peak Christmas viewing and be up against the Brucie dancing show.

It's all timed to tap into the teen market and fill Cowells pockets with gold.

PMKeates = Simon Cowell?
skippi90 = amoeba?

It's designed to get the Christmas No.1 by selling lots of singles and making lots of money. It's not designed to get the Christmas No.1 with the sole intention of preventing another song getting it.

Aye, not sure if they can force the single to be released earlier or later but it would be fairer

I think the Xfactor should be axed along with britains got talent.

As a nation we are some of the best musicians and song writers and bands around.

But these are not allowed to breathe against dancing dogs, Retarded spinsters

and homo sexual dracula teeth fanged pre pubescent choir boys. :mad:

16:53 20/12/2009 - I'm going to go ahead and say it: WE DID IT! RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE IS XMAS NUMBER ONE

I've heard this from many reliable sources, technically it's not 100% official but, well, it's a fact. We've shown that we can make a difference and that you don't have a right to number one just because Simon Cowell says so, especially with a bad cover!

Finally I would like to say thank you to all of you, we've raised £62,587.30 for Shelter at the time of writing this, the difference that this will make to peoples lives is truely amazing.

I think I did quite well to have never been subjected to the Popstars/Britains got Talent/X-factor etc franchise until last Saturday. Went to visit family and it was on in the background. Along with 90% of ITVs output it's commercially driven tripe.

If people stop watching it then they'll make better programming.

Yes really - the Christmas #1 is a bigger event than any other #1. Radio 1 change the name of the show to "Christmas #1 Countdown with XYZ" as opposed to "The Chart Show"

X-Factor is designed to make money, not distort the charts. It may distort them in the process, but that is not a contravention of the rules. The ruling is that it is not allowed to act in a way designed to distort the charts. The RATM groups were designed to distort the charts.

The distinction is incredibly obvious.

I disgree, if by some miracle it got axed, it would be replaced by some more reality bullpoo. "Im a failed celebrity, can i get a reservation at a high end restaurant?"
