rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

That Joe forum is probably one of the most disturbing places I have ever visited on the internet, truly scary some of the views on there and all of the pictures, I can’t believe there are people so weird and naive

it looks like she tried to cram every bad word she can thing of into one sentance.:p

I'm glad RATM got number one, it ruined the x factors monopoly of the charts and proved that if we band together we can make changes.

Those forums that the joe fans have got are really funny to read, shows they dont know much about music and what not! Things like this make me laugh.

ahh let them have there fame, because they wont have much more where as Joe will!

Joe has a long way to go yet.... lol

I can't honestly say I'm buying into the new conviction that the internet's gonna help the world now everyone's seen how powerful it is. This is not the first step on the rod to making a better world, it's something that was done because it was awesome. I love that Rage stomped the X-factor guy, but I woulda been almost as happy if it hadn't worked out as well - nothing's really changed, the fact that it happened is far more important than that it succeeded.

Lol, as well as getting Rage to no1 fans have raised just under £80,000 to help the homeless at a critical time of year. What a bunch of godless, devil worshipping rapists! :o.

No need to make it personal now big man.

The people who bought Joe's single will have done because they liked it, not because someone told them to buy it en mass. You don't just walk into a shop and spend your money on something you don't like. It's testament to it's popularity that it still was number 2. The release each year comes just before Christmas, no accident but what does it matter?

I doubt this campaign or anything to do with it was even the slightest blip on their radar until today for most, so they won't have bought 10 copies just because they 'believe' in the x-factor.

Anyway, what's done is done.

The sheer number of singles sold shows that people buy it almost as an automatic response to the ending of the x-factor.

That would be why x-factor has hit the number one spot for the last 4/5 years.

Just look at the numbers.

450,000 for Joe's single

60,000 odd for the next one below. That's around 8x more people, it's utterly unrealistic.

I don't think it's people buying what they don't like, but more people buying what they've been forcefed for the past 3 months.

A lot of people who buy the x-factor christmas singles don't usually buy music, that's the way I see it anyway, and as an extension of that, are also not particularly interested in it.

I've also found it strange that outlets such as the BBC and the Daily Mail have referred to the track Killing In The Name as being "anti-X Factor", as the song itself was written more than ten years before the X Factor franchise was conceived, and in itself holds nothing against such talent shows.

The campaign was most definitely anti-X Factor, but the song itself wasn't

I think a lot of people just don't understand what's happened here.

I get the impression that a lot of people think this was a campaign by RATM.

Especially those Joe forums, there are people actually claiming RATM "cheated" to get to number one.

They don't realise that an unrelated person chose the track, they had nothing to do with the band.

Funny thing is the Rage single is on Simon Cowels label....

It's not, how about a) reading the thread? And b) doing your research?

Both are on SONY, Simon however doesn't own sony, and it's pitiful that you think he may.

Sony are a lot bigger than simon after all.

Hmmm, sexuality has nothing to do with it ;)

RATM = *****
X Factor single = *****

I know i'll get the whole 'its the meanng behind the song bla bla bla' its tosh in my opinion nothing changes that!

Make sure you fully star out any swear words please.

Cool story bro.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but you've given it a few times already.

We're already aware that don't like either tracks.

A lot of comments i've seen seem to be under the impression RATM are a new band as well, completely oblivious to the several multi platinum albums, sell out shows, headlined festivals, political movements and so on.

What I find really funny is that "Killing in the Name" was more than likely written before Joe was even born, yet people think it's a track directed at him.

I would say, for a 1992 release of the album, killing in the name was more than likely written around 90-91 = before Joe's time.

That picture does nothing for Simon's haircut. It looks worse than ever.

I'm convinced he just places a deep frying basket over his head and has a quick once over with the clippers.

Oh, isn't he also supposed to be leaving the country too? I'm sure I've read he has "vowed to leave England if RATM win".

Wish I'd put a bet on it. Was it 100-1 at one point, i.e. really early on?

Oh well, guess no-one could have predicted it that far in advance.

Also, the sig sizes on that Mcelderry forum are shocking.
