Is this the guy whos mum was Mary? pretty sure she was raped while sleeping by some guy called Jehovah. He then sent 3 of his goons round and gave her gold , franken- seance and myrrh as hush money. He started off like any normal child and worked with his father as a carpet layer it wasnt until his teens he started hereing voices. Thats when the trouble began and he started to drink wine heavily to get rid of the voices.

It's because mid winter solstice was celebrated on the 22nd of December, and Christianity held the holiday closer to that to try and encourage more people to join.

Birth in the spring is consistent with the account in Luke that there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby keeping watch over their flock by night. Birth in 5 BC also throws light upon the problem of the census of Caesar Augustus. A new chronology of the life of Christ is given which is consistent with the available evidence. This chronology suggests that Christ died close to his 37th birthday.

There's a lot of evidence (not including the Bible) that Jesus was born. If you want to go that route, you would do better arguing against the 'virgin birth' and 'son of God' parts of the story instead of Jesus himself.

As for the date, the 25th seems very unlikely. All bets are off anyway as the calendar has been 'adjusted' several times over the last two millennia (the Gregorian calendar was the last major change in a series of changes).

That really isn't the case as the aramaic/latin/roman/greek words for "son" and "sun" are completely different. It would only make sense if the original was in English, which it isn't.

Other than the Bible there is no actual evidence that Christ actually lived. No contemporay historians mention him at all. The closest is Joesephinus who mentions Christians but this is after the crucifiction. Pretty sure there have even been some suggestions that the stories about him are actually an amalgamation of two preachers from around that time. The problem of course being it was 2000 years ago and records are sketchy. The nativity story itself is likely allegorical regardless.

"Josephus", not "Josephinus." His full name was Titus Flavius Josephus and he was a Romanised Jew. His essential account is generally considered authentic, notwithstanding the later interpolations.

Tacitus, Pliny the Younger and Lucian of Samosata all refer to Jesus as a historical person. They also refer to Christians as followers of Christ and Tacitus specifically mentions that the term "Christian" is derived from "Christ."

Obviously Jesus was not divine, because he was crucified and died. True gods are usually more robust.

It's a mistake to think of the New Testament / Bible as a single source on Jesus. It's a multiple-book, multiple-author library, later compiled when technology (codex rather than scroll form) allowed it to be contained in a single volume.
