Ever spent the night in a supermarket?

I clicked on this thread hoping to mention The Mist but it looks like everyone beat me to it :) Highly recommend the OP watch the film :)

I work up at Cressex (top of marlow hill) and have to walk to the train station.

I was walking down marlow hill about about 5:30 right in the middle of the snow fall and it was coming down hard. By that time people were already begining to abandon there cars.

Had to walk back up marlow this morning for work and just seeing all the abandoned cars was very erie. must have walked past about 300 abandoned cars most of them were on marlow hill or by the school at the top of it.

i hope it clears up a bit before i leave tonight, i would'nt want to camp in the tesco express around the corner :)

I used to, work for tescos now. Hate my job.

And I aint doing anything out of hours, I have never clocked out late once in my life.
I aint working for managers who can't even get the building to meet health and safety more than once or twice a year, give you broken equipment, treat you like a mug, even though I'm technically more qualified than them to be a manager.

Not to mention the rude customers.

I've completely given up on being nice to anyone but my workmates in there now, i do my job and go home.

It's a shame you weren't in Morrisons, as you could've served that CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER to go with the sausage rolls :):o:cool::D

I suppose they would be obliged to offer shelter food/water etc... most places would in a crisis, it still amazes me how people go out of their way when something like a lot of snow drops down.

On last thursday/friday morning when it first hit, i got stuck in tunbdrige wells and managed to get to my brothers to stay there, on the way home after several failed attempts in the morning, i gave numerous advise to motorists passing by in my car, drove 2 elderly men to a funeral up a long hill, saw a hell of a lot of 4x4 with snow tires helping people out and unsticking there cars!

Its good to see people come together when a bit of a crisis happens imo! :)

A fellow Wellsian, eh? ;)

I was one of those 4x4 drivers helping people out. I 'rescued' two cars in Langton Green who got stuck on sheet ice trying to drive up a lane. The untreated lanes were lethal.
You're right though, it's great to see the community all helping each other out. As I was driving through the villages I saw loads of people pushing cars out and going out of there way to help each other.
I'd rather be out helping people than stuck indoors all day doing nothing. :)

That's a good attitude to have and just for that day you may well be someones hero if you make the difference between them getting home to their loved ones or still being stuck in the cold. That's why I couldn't just leave anyone I passed this morning on my trek home, you have to get involved. I'd hope someone would do the same for me. I'm only a girl but if my help made any difference then it was worth the time and trouble.

Getting from Bracknell to Yateley last night after work took me the best part of 3 and a half hours most of which was spent on Crowthorne Road and in Crowthorne, once I got to Sandhurst it was plain sailing except still couldn't do much more than 10 mph if I was lucky.

At one point did consider abandoning my car but the 5 mile walk home in the snow didn't exactly motivate me. Think it was Radio Berkshire keeping me sane all night lol, was the only station that actually seemed to sympathise with those that were stranded.

Spent another hour out side the house helping people up the close and into parking spaces.

I have! I got home just under an hour ago along with my parents having spent last night snowed in at Morrisons in High Wycombe due to a sudden unexpected snowfall that hit the Chilterns yesterday evening.

Could be worse, could have been the chav infested Asda in crawley lol

Yep, i have!

Waited ten hours for a Nintendo Wii in Asda. The staff there were awesome, brought us all mince pies, jaffa cakes and coffees.

I was travelling back from Welwyn Garden City to Nottingham last night.

Took 7 hours to do a 2 hour journey! It took me over 3 hours to get from Luton Airport Parkway to the M1 (about 2 miles).

Credit to the 3 counties radio DJ though, he was due to finish at 7 and was still on at 10pm when I left the region.

Given I doubt you make a 30 mile pilgrimage to the supermarket was there no option of just walking home? If it took you 4 hours surely a 4 hour walk beats a night in a supermarket
