1) The Weekend Sports/Track Car £15K budget
Hawk HF3000 with either the Alfa V6 or the Lancia Thema LX Turbo motor.

2) The Mile Eater £15K budget
I kind of want to say Thema 8.32, but for better reliability it looks like an RS6 is possible in budget.

3) The Family Wagon £10K budget
156 GTA estate. Since a 4x4 159 is still out of reach.

4) The City Car £8K budget
FIAT 500 with the 900cc 2cly. turbo multiair motor, when it's released.

5) Something Italian £10K budget
Would love to say Delta Integrale like everyone else, but they're over budget. So go for the saloon version instead; Alfa 155 Q4.

Even worse then, as I doubt at 21 you can afford to mile munch in a 750i. I'm no diesel fanboy but for a huge luxobarge to do loads and loads of miles surely diesel > petrol?

If im 21 and have 15k for a mile muncher im sure i can afford to suffer for a few months before realising my mistake!

Unless its on credit.. then maybe not!

Fox, this isnt real life! :D

The challenge is this. You need to choose 5 cars that fit within the following categories and budgets. No swapping money to top up other categories, if you don't spend it you loose it and of course cars can be new or old. Lets also have some debate on peoples choices or else we will simply have a lists thread, which no one reads, so challenge peoples rationale!!

Also - seen a few people mentioning mid 90s civics for an 8k city car.....WTF am I missing there?

(narrow street, you in an old defender vs person in a new car they actually care about...who will back down first?! It'd need to be jacked up and have a noisy v8 in it though :D)

5) Something Italian £10K budget
Alfa GT:

LOL at "small budget" you don't know the meaning of the phrase, even the 8K city car budget is more than the total cost of every car I've ever bought. I wouldn't know where to start speccing cars at this kind of money :o

1) The Weekend Sports/Track Car £15K - Porsche 968 CS
2) The Mile Eater £15K - Alpina B10 V8S
3) The Family Wagon £10K - Audi S4 Avant (V8)
4) The City Car £8K - Fiat 500
5) Something Italian £10K - Lancia Delta Integrale

the trouble is, 2) and 3) are interchangeable. plus for 2) a 750i or CL55 AMG are probably better.
too many choices! :(

Yea but a mile muncher is for long distance work, so tank range is surely good as its more non stop continent crushing?

Petrol > Diesel. For the same reason I would get an S55 AMG over a S320 CDI for long distance...
