I'm pretty new here, was lurking for around a year before I got around to signing up. :o

Would love to see some images of the pre nuke forums if anyone can dig some out; Spie maybe?

Thanks to you, the Members, these forums are the most successful of their type in the UK. I believe that they will continue to evolve and grow as long as we re-enable registrations once more, for if we were to keep them closed indefinitely then we would run the very real risk of causing stagnation.

Before registrations open it is necessary to address the performance issue that we are all familiar with. This is not just a hardware issue. If it were then the problem would have been resolved many months ago. The main problem that we encounter is the current state of the forum databases. Without detailing all of the problems, for they vary between different databases, the only realistic method of correcting these wide-ranging problems is to delete all databases and start again. THIS WILL REQUIRE EVERYONE TO RE-REGISTER.

On Thursday the 17th October between 9am and approx 6pm the forums will be closed to enable these changes to take place. I will also take this opportunity to upgrade to the latest version of vBB.

There will be an amnesty for most people who have been nuked in the past, although the Dons will take a less tolerant approach to those individuals as guardians of forums standards. There are a few individuals who will never be welcome here.

I thank you for your support in the past and I know that with your help these forums will continue to provide the very best forums experience available. I look forward to meeting you again – on the new improved OcUK forums.

Wow, I bet you knew those emails would come in handy some day! :p

A great insight into the setup of the forums as we know them. Do you happen to have any screenshots of the old days?! :)

And you can browse OCUK main page from 2000 onwards in internet archives
:D

I joined late 2000 with a thread about the Thermo Engine and Delta Fan combo OcUK were selling at the time. Bought it to overclock my 1Ghz axia. Back in the day eh? :D
