He was a good mate, if it wasn't for him after the Eminem concert in London in 2002 I wouldn't have got back to the coach in time and I would have been stranded in London the night!! with NO MONEY!! he came back and found me cos I went to the loo and no one waited like I asked!

ps can I ask you mate with the m3 if you can pick up some mini moto bits I've just spotted on eBay for me? They are in Swindon! :P

yup, driving to wales (and oulton park near chester) i reset my avg speed counter as i joined to motorway, hoping to at least keep it above 60.

Both trips only just got above 50. On the way back i just decided to stick in lane 1 and 2 with the lorries much less frustrating than getting to 80mph then having to brake down to 50 every time some numpty moves into lane 3 without looking.

lol my dad retired 2 years ago now.

my mate with the m3 lives in essex, i doubt he visits swindon toan very often tbh lol, sorry bud!!
 
Bideford is great, i used to go to school there, a place called grenville college, fun times. Strict, but fun!
 
People's ideas about average speeds always amuse me. They sit 100mph for a chunk of the motorway and take that as their "average" :D

On road rallies you have to achieve a 30mph average over the timed sections. Almost everyone I've spoken to about this raises an eyebrow or laughs and wonders what all the fuss is about. If only they knew how hard it really is to average 30mph (exactly!) down a single track road, a proper single track road not like the rubbish ones round here, using an OS map and occasionally plotting on the go.....

Last time I measured an average was many years ago on a trip from South Wales to Manchester, up the A483 through the middle of the country - average was 75mph in a Rover 213 and let me tell you that was seriously, seriously trying.
 
In another country that had roads remarkably like those found linking, say, Plymouth and Southampton in this country I once did the trip in the late evening and averaged 69.5mph. I was really enjoying the car, as well, yet still the average wasn't high...
