New car (That doesnt cost 25k)

I meant no compromise on the sport kit, not the whole over all car. In the same way the M3/M5 kit is no compromise and the M sport is compromised (if it isn't the same) The GTi and R32 kit is the top level kit for the car, the M sport kit isn't.

You make less sense with every post!

How can the GTI *and* the R32 be 'top level'? R32 is 'top level'.

You make less sense than a condom machine in the Vatican.

Sorry, I will try and explain better, I am not used to talking abouts cars with people who genuinely know about them and arn't all about sticking K&N kits and 6x9's to 1.1 hatchbacks.

The sporting kit on the GTi and R32 is the top level kit in the range, it is not compromised in any way.

The BMW kit goes Standard car -> BMW M sport -> BMW M3/M5

The M sport is not the top level sports kit, it is compromised.

How is a GTI 'not compromised in any way'?

The BMW kit goes Standard car -> BMW M sport -> BMW M3/M5

And the VW kit goes Standard car > GTI > R32?

In what way is an M Sport level car 'compromised' that a Golf GTI isnt?

Put the lid back on. It will sound more 'practical'.

Seems you have made a your S2000 into a track car and then are complaining about it's fiobles.

Reading the thread I do get the feeling that returning the S2000 to stock and slapping the hard top on would solve some of the issues with it.

I often feel like changing my car for the sake of it... I find that the feeling passes after a week or two :p

Good...

Saying it the same way, across three lines doesn't make it any "better". The GTi isn't "no-compromise" in any way, shape or form.

[TW]Fox seems to have gotten it.

I also believe the GTi is the same as an R32 in all but engine and bodykit. If I am mistaken then apologies.

And the small matter that the R32 is 4WD with a completely different chassis/geometry setup?

They are completely different cars.

Welp, didn't know that, I thought the GTi and R32 were the same car underneath bar the engine. I guess the M sport models are the GTi of the range then.

nope, not owned by many white track suit monkeys in essex untill they are at least 10 years old.

Now can i recommend an avensis?

Conanius a Mini I'm disappointed ;). The only thing I would move from my S2000 is either something like a Corvette or Elise. A Golf or Mini or something like that just no.

To make things clear.

The golf is just a 3 door family hatch. It's nothing incredible but to me felt like a 'good fun' car.

No doubt I'll see if I can find a 330ci to have a drive in, but I really have to be honest and say I'm not sure if it's what I want.

Cars will always create controversy, especially in enthusiast circles. But let's make a couple of things clear.

I don't expect anything, including a 330ci a golf gti to be remotely clse to the driving enjoyment of my s2000 on the right road with the roof down and 9000 rpm screaming through the air.

I fully appreciate a fwd golf isn't a no compromise car. It's a 'jumped up' 3 door hatch with a bit more go than normal and harder handling.

I'm a 25 year old bloke who if he fancies changing his car fOr something others feel is bizarre I'll find a way to deal with it. Probably :-p

A 330ci will be more fun to drive than a Golf GTi, hence the suggestion.

To be honest I still think you should just keep the S2000 for now.

not aimed at you in isolation olly so sorry for the quote but I do struggle to comprehend the borderline irrational hatred of all things fwd. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a golf gti as long as you don't expect a sports car competing level of performance. I don't expect to pitch up at track days and be choosing which race car I'll be trying to keep with.

Maybe I'm fighting a loosing battle to convince hard core petrol heads that a golf gti is an acceptable car !

A Golf GTi is a perfectly good car, but it's a complete backwards step from an S2000 is what we're getting at.
