Any tips to remove a slight smokey smell from a car

Time for me to stop drinking and go to bed when thread title reads...

Any tips to remove a slight monkey smell from a car.

Exactly what I read aswell :o

My focus was an ex-smoker.
Gave her a good clean when I got her, frebreeze, shampoo'd carpets.
Think a lot of the smoke clings to the roof lining though.

Having your windows open on most journeys and after a couple of months you can't smell it as bad.

It will unfortunately always be there, but it's now very very discrete.

A friend of mine used vinegar in her car - possibly diluted?

The smell of the vinegar was overpowering, but after a week or so both the vinegar and cigarette smells seemed to disappear.

+1

Just leave a cat in your car for a few days..

The best thing about cat wee is the smell seems to have gone after a few months, then the summer comes and you're back to square one again!

I had a Vauxhall Astra given to me by my grandparents. They both smoked like chimneys, and after a thorough clean of all the interior and an anti-tobacco air freshener, the smell subsided and was gone in a few months.

Just don't smoke while continue using the car for a while, the smoke smell from the previous owner pretty much disappeared completely after a few months...

An ice coffee carton.

Drink the contents leave the carton in the car for a week and the car out in the sun and No more smokey smell!

Just the smell of off ice coffee :p

Put some white vinigar in a bowl, leave it in the car overnight.
Febreze every bit of fabric in the car.
Get the interior wet vacced and valeted.

Thanks for all advice all.

I have opted for the Dakota Odor Bomb as suggested, guy i bought the car from mention bomb things but I had never heard of them before.

Also opted for a Meguiar's Car Odor Eliminator aswell.

Will be giving the car a nice clean in week or two when i we get into the new year as im being a lazy git at moment and just taking it easy :D

I did however buy a vanilla & some woodsmell anti tobaco purfume you stick onto your airvents, think it was airwick. at first did'nt seem to help but i think its working after a week, might just be my sense of smell not being great but did'nt expect to much from it.

What i normal do is say last 10 minutes of my journey I will put the heat on full power and blast the car with it seems to help takeaway or atleast mask the smell until i give it a really good clean, used to be when i jump in the car the next day i could maybe smell the smoke but using this method i dont notice it at all.

Its the only thing that put me off buying the car, as i can't stand smoke. I still went ahead and bought it though :D

Its a Honda Civic 2004 Hybrid saloon, never thought i would have a sodding hybrid but had an accident in my MR2 Roadster due to aquaplaning so need something cheap to run tax/fuel wise until i build up abit of a no claims again, plus i've never own a big car so thought it was ideal.

Whats best method for cleaning the airvents of any smell ? maybe recirculating the air while using the bomb im buying ? where exactly does the car usualy re-take in the air from inside the car to blow back out?
