British man to be exectuted by Chinese

I agree with both these quotes. It's not like it's a secret that they will execute you if caught smuggling drugs and contrary to some peoples opinions on here heroin does ruin peoples lives. By stopping that one person smuggling drugs ever again you will save a few lives.
What is "the law" and what grants it the right to kill? Why do you accept murder because the law says it's OK?
What sort of society do we live in and are giving to our children where we demonstrate it is "OK" to kill when a law says so. The "law" has been the excuse for thousands of years of abuse, terror and killing. There is a huge, monumental difference between "the law" and what's actually right.
I'm going to hazard a guess that the 'law' has also prevented a few teensy weensy incidences of abuse, terror and killing in its time.
I'm sure it has. My point is that it's not infallible. To follow it unquestionably is dangerous.
And what will killing a possibly insane man do to prevent that? We will never, ever, ever solve the problems in society by creating cruel punishments and brutalising each other. This event is so far down the chain of events, that even nailing him to a cross and parading him through the streets wouldn't deter the cause for him to have 4kg of heroin in his suitcase.

The law did not went after this particular person but it's about him who breeched the law on purpose. And the consequence is death.
Unless his name is Gary McKinnon, I'm not really interested.
Distrust in the Chinese justice system. Do you trust that justice has been carried out correctly? Has he had a fair trial? Has he been correctly and independently examined for sanity of mind? I severely doubt it on all of these points. That brings me back to what is probably about to happen. He is going to be killed. We are about to demonstrate how we feel that we are not equals and not deserved of the same right to life.

Nonsense. Heroin should be legal in the first place and that 4KG will just be replaced by another batch from someone else.
You can't stop supply when there is demand. Maybe the Chinese Government should stop selling Mugabe guns in return for ivory if they're so moral and concerned about 'suffering' families?
Utter hypocrisy.
Tomorrow France changes the punishment for speeding to death by fire squad. A friend of yours is prosecuted for speeding, not given a fair trial, and is going to be killed at dawn. Does this make it right? Is this what we want of our society? Of course not. In this situation it's the same thing. A man is going to be killed for putting some drugs in a suitcase. There's every chance that he's insane, and has practically no idea what he is doing. As a race of people we feel the best way to deal with this... is to kill him. Killing him will not help anyone.

I never said we didn't trade arms either but its funny how a few people view the Chinese Gov as the moral ones on this issue. As if they really care about some families who may or may not have a drug abuser amongst them.
The fact is that most people choose to take drugs. You can't just blame the supplier nor can you ever stop the supply.
Thinking that taking one amateur dealer off the streets is going to make a blind bit of difference is fairly delusional.

Yes but the chinese have the balls to deal with there own problems unlike us were he would have got maybe 7 years with tv in cell ,days outs, and let out sooner then 7 years.
Considering the massive human rights abuses in China it really isn't a country which I would aspire to.
