British man to be exectuted by Chinese

More often than not a heroin users journey starts with mild drugs such as pot, the predatory junkie is someone that they meet through having to obtain pot from underground sources, not their friends.
I am not sure I agree with you here. If we discount the possibility of people being born "predatory junkies" then at some point that dealer must have been someone's friend who was introduced to heroin or other drugs by, one would assume, a friend. I honestly don't know what goes through the heads of those who sell heroin but I would guess their only/prime concern is obtaining more heroin (if they're addicted too) or more money. Drugs should not be in the hands of those sort of people who would mix them with harmful chemicals just to make a few extra pounds. Those who would willingly put people, who arguably could be called vulnerable, at risk of injury or death.

If the milder more socially acceptable drugs were legalised then you would stand a massively reduced chance of ever coming into contact with a heroin user. A heroin addict is likely to want to drag someone down to their level, it makes them feel better about being in a hopeless situation and they can feed their habit from the naivety of the fledgling user. This happens a lot to weak minded people.
It's not something I have that much experience with, I've thankfully never met a heroin dealer and I certainly don't know their motivations.

I completely agree with the legalisation aspect though. Making drugs illicit simply makes growing, producing and selling them more lucrative, which I would say makes it far more attractive for people to do. Greater risk = greater reward, take away the risk and the reward becomes less attractive and worthwile.

See above. Heroin isn't something that you want legal and freely available, however you can stop the ability for users and sellers to introduce people to heroin.
Again I agree. I don't want heroin freely available, who would? I guess it would be restricted and there would be limitations, conditions that would come with it's supply. I would much prefer it if drug users do what they do in a monitored way; with a view to ending their dependency. As opposed to simply ignoring the issue, pushing it underground and leaving addicts to steal, mug and rob to fund their habits.

Anyway back to the OP, I'm against capital punishment for any crime so for me this is wrong regardless of my position on China's backwards drug laws.

I'm guessing they're still ****** off about the Opium Wars? ;)

Can't say I have much simpathy tbh, he broke thier laws. I think the bi-polar thing is an excuse by the family as well. Being bi-polar surely you still know exactly what you are doing.

Thats a very black and white viewpoint... if only life was that simple.

No I don't need to I just think one less scumbag carrying 4 kg of crack around.
He did the crime and he will pay for it.

Have a look here

http://www.chinatoday.com/law/a.htm

He deserves justice none the less... if he really is knowingly and wilfully guilty then I won't shed a tear... but if theres the slightest chance he was not entirely responsible for his actions then executing him would be just as WRONG without proper review as the people peddling drugs in the first place... if not more so as the law should have the moral high ground.

Question for UK authorities:

How many more mentally ill people, not responsible for their actions, are driving taxis in London?

I'm against the death penalty and i'm glad we don't have it here. Having said that China does, so if you go there you know the rules.

How does a mentally ill man gain the funds to get himself to Tajikistan and then on a flight to China? Not sure we have the full story tbh...

You can have money and be mentally ill. There's many fabulously wealthy people with histories of mental illness.
