And i really dont know what the issue is...
we have had some pretty major arguments about this subject and even though the majority of my Asian friends agree with my way of thinking they dont seem to be able to go against there family's

Dis-respecting the dead in the very place they are honoured is idiotic.
Edit: In fact, I fail to understand how being in a country trying to stop a group of people like the Taliban that do so much damage to the innocent local parties is positive?
If we pulled everyone out innocent Muslim people would still die, probably faster. Yea awesome.

Islam is actually a very charitable and respectful religion. As you and others have mentioned, it's also followed by some nutjobs who think about it way too literally. It's almost a perfect mirror of the Christian extremists in the US (as mentioned earlier) who also protest funerals (ie that of Heath Ledger for portraying a gay man), mob abortion clinics and make large fortunes ripping off vulnerable people.
It's important to remember that people using it as a "legitimate" front for disrption and tension knowing that human rights offer them protection and a big green light to do and say whatever they like, are not representative of the average follower of the faith.
The moderate majority of people, whether Muslim, Christian or whatever group rarely make their views known in any public or meaningful way. Normal people are far too busy working, bringing up their kids and living their lives to make such statements. The extremist elements of society are filled with the disassociated and radicalised who have normally have plenty of free time to spend pushing their hatred and viewpoints.

The Muslim Council Of Britain has already denounced this march, and also speaks out at the media's insistance on giving these and other extremist groups publicity in the first place. They have a point. The majority of people would not know who the hell these people are without the press. It gives such groups an amount of credibility that they do not deserve.

I'm all for free speech but why is this march even going ahead? Am I right in thinking that they would need to gain permission to perform this action?
Of course, any refusal will likely spark claims of racism but I'd like to think anyone with a shred of common sense (oh, wait...) can see why this protest is a ridiculous idea.
