Best phone at the moment?

Common reports/reviews state that the Milestone's keyboard is very poor. The N900 keyboard is far better, so give that a go before you decide!

And it stops you having to be on Windows Mobile.... why oh why did HTC do that :( :p

What is actually wrong with WM? 50% of the post about it being bad seem to be from iPhone faboys, and the other 50% from people who didnt like WM like 5 years ago, and insist its still bad? A mate had a Windows Mobile device years ago and it was horrid, but the current (WM6+) ones Ive used seem to be good, especially with the HTC front end. I dont think ive seen anyone who actually owns a HD2 complaining about Windows Mobile?

Windows Mobile 6.1 pro and newer are pretty decent... problem is they are a bit "OS" - a lot of people just want a phone with a nice pretty frontend that just does everything. There are some frontends like touchflo, etc. but many of them are pretty naff.

Personally I like the advanced features windows mobile provides, being able to customise it and run stuff outside of a normal phone type useage.

I laugh at the iphone users every time I'm seamlessly multitasking on my xperia...

I suppose, its the difference between wanting a phone that does funky stuff, or wanting a funky device that does phone. WM is the latter.

The HD2 is great but sometimes you fall out of the HTC polished area and it's a bit horrible. Windows mobile is still designed to be used with a stylus which is not possible with the phone being capacitive. Also the lack of updates and central marketplace is offputting. Windows mobile is fine, but android has caught up quickly and isn't slowing up on development. I can only hope microsoft can do a 'windows 7' with the mobile version and turn it around.

As for the milestone, i'd probably get on with the keyboard ok as I have smallish fingers and I've never really had much of an issue with cramped keypads.

Oh sorry.

I'd like to use it for music, watching videos and films, browsing the internet and using msn. So preferably with a large screen. Was looking at the N97, any good?

Wouldn't normally say it and I really hate to but that quote there has got iPhone written all over it.

Its basically exactly what I want from my phone but my TouchHD is poo at playing vids and browsing the web doesn't even compare to the iphone even using Opera.
People will start quoting things like resolution needs to be higher and Safari doesn't support flash blah blah, but in terms of ease and user experience no handset can come close for both media and browsing.

I just refuse to pay the joke contract / handset prices that are being charged however (though my wife was happy to) so I wont get one.

HD2 for me next I reckon.

If you are saying that the iPhone has the best mobile web browser, you are sorely mistaken my friend :p

Dolphin Browser is tabbed far better than the iPhone browser and default Android browser on the hero.

They just need to tidy it up a bit and its basically a Firefox for Android!
