It's snowing

Had some more snow overnight which has given us a healthy covering here.

Few heavy showers throughout the day to top it up.

Next week looks interesting though, a lot of snow incoming!

I went to OCUK at around 14:30 and the A34 on the other side was chocker going towards Talke/Kidsgrove.
I decided to leave my car at the top of the road that OCUK is on and I put a note in the window saying I'd broke down.
When I walked up the hill from OCUK, 2 cars couldn't make it.

Three HGVs are stuck trying to get up the hill from OCUK this morning. One just came very closs to jack kniffing.

well snow hasnt cleared since I Made this topic. its about 3" of ice and snow ontop. we are due more too. I went ant cleared the small area infront of my garage had to use a spade to break the ice then shovel it up.

Long range weather forcast is predicting the cold weather to get worse and last at least another 2 weeks.

I can't remember the last time we've had snow on the ground for this long.

Technically an ice age is ether defined as when ice is present on earth or present at the poles. Ergo, we are currently in one.

Over the majority of earth's history there has been no evidence of ice at the poles.

Well and truly fed up with this stuff now. Around 2 feet of snow on the ground and started snowing heavily again around 16.30. Since the begining of December we have only had four days above freezing and even then it was only just above. The warmest we have had is 0.8 degrees and the coldest is -11.2 degrees. On average it has been -4.5 degrees during the day. The council has done nothing. All the blokes on our estate have kept a single lane open and even then it's a struggle to do as there has been so much snow there is nowhere to put it when you clear it from the road. My front garden is under 5 feet of snow just from clearing the path and drive!! All of the salt bins are empty and we have'nt seen a gritter/plough lorry since before Christmas.

Down south on the other hand we had 4 days of snow and about 4 days below freezing (well at freezing), coldest has been about -4 at night but apparently that is very cold and "well below freezing"... I'm waiting for some proper snow but it never comes down here.

Having said that according to metcheck we are supposed to have about 6 inches on wednesday, however yesterday they said tuesday, saturday they said monday etc. so I'll believe it when it comes...

Where is everyone buying sledges from? We went hunting around the retail parks and supermarkets for them yesterday but couldn't find a damn thing!

Just want a cheap sledge :(
