Best phone at the moment?

I've resisted the iPhone for as long it was out, until the 3GS came out and offered me exactly everything I want from a phone and I have not for one second looked back!

op - give us a bit of a hand. How much do you pay a month, contract length you're happy with, what minutes/texts/net do you use and are you happy to leave 3?

I pay £29 a month and get 500 minutes and texts and unlimited internet. I get discount cus my brother in law works for them. I'd be happy to pay up to £35 i guess, i wouldn't want a worse contract than my current one though. I'd prefer an 18 month contract at most and while i'd rather stay with 3, i'm not overly fussed.

The N900 browser is FAR better. The browser on the Hero is (imo) as good as the iPhone one too, and the Dolphin Browser is a good (Firefox style) step in the right direction for Android.

Nahhh i have used both and the browser on the iphone is far better than the one on my hero and any i used on the hero, the N900 one does looks sweet on youtube.

Well I own both an iPhone and the Hero and I was expressing my opinion, as were you.

You are right about the N900 though, it's a world apart!;)

I had a iphone for 3 months or so and i just thought it was faster and smoother than the one on the Hero, pinch zoom was faster and smoother.

you cant even view flash on the iphone browser can you ? or do anything else in background...

id choose opera 10 over it anytime

The HD2 would be awesome if it didn't have Windows Mobile :p

Why, what's wrong with it? Go use an HD2 in a shop (if you can find one) and read the thread here/other reviews.

The iPhone is way overpriced and lacks loads of functionality.

If you want a load of flash-style arcade games, get an iPhone. If you want a good phone, get an HD2.

I did, I made the thread for it :p but ultimately it wasn't for me. As I said I simply prefer the look and feel of android and nothing more. I'm not defending the iPhone one bit.

I think the iPhone is over rated. Its more a fashion/status symbol than anything else. Functionality wise its showing its age. As a music player its sound quality is very average, same as the iPods. Camera isn't worth a mention, its just an after thought, a bad one at that.

I've seen better battery life. Ok its got apps, but most of them are useless.

I have an iPod Touch connected via wifi and its nothing to sing about. No flash on the browser is really poor. The only good thing about the iPhone and Touch is the touch screen, its really nice. Im not a big fan of resistive screens.

I'll be waiting for SE X10, the HTC Bravo and Samsung w880 (when its out).

Here is what I use my phone for in order of importance:

1. Music/Videos
2. Internet
3. Texting
4. Games
5. GPS
6. Talking

I have a HD2, and it does all the above to my needs. Best phone I've ever owned. :)

I suppose, its the difference between wanting a phone that does funky stuff, or wanting a funky device that does phone. WM is the latter.

Yeah, since having my HD i've come to see it as a mobile computer (which, well it is, windows mobile is used on loads of proper mobile computers as well) which also does texting and phone duties, whereas Android and Symbian as smart phones and the iPhone as a nice step between smart phones and your standard phone (such as the K800 etc)

The N900 fits into that bracket - mobile computer that will do sms and phonecalls, one of the reasons I like it so much. Defo worth a look for the OP.

I'm seriously considering going for the vodafone £29.99 package on that phone. Never used vodafone before though, what are your honest opinions of them? Thanks.
