Mum bought a cloned car, anything we can do?

Best off speaking to the CAB as a first port of call... :)

Citizens advice bureau

all ready have thanks. dont think they can help got a solisitor on it but costing 150 a hour killing me .trying to solve it with the fianance company first because its going to cost another 2 grand just to take them to a crown court.just thought some one on here had been in the same boat.

I'm not sure what he means either. Car insurance bears nothing on the purchase of a car....as for legal protection, I was under the assumption that was with regards to claims etc. not to do with having bought.

sorry about that mate but in the 2 two posts i mean he is a traveler gyipsy and he has no assets to frezze he has been arrested from the lester area .i bought the car cash and it was a cloned car. i am trying to contact the fianance company to see what title i have on the car because i bought it in good faith.i have found out that there still is about 26grand left outstanding on the fianance.dose anyone no wher i stand sorry about the other posts

The car belongs to the finance company still even though it was purchased by you albeit a stolen car

i done all the checks on the car even taken it to a bmw garage and got 2 of there men to have a look round it and checked the vin and numbers under the car they said it had not been tamped with . then i taken it to another garage they done a shearch on the car it showed up clean and i phoned the fianance company they said had no fianance . done a check with a tex on my phone came clear . and got some one from another garage to check the v5 form she said that was not a forge . what chance do you have when you do all them searchers and they all come up clean. i have proff off all them and i was a inocent party .

No not really, I got some legal advice and was basically told to just give up, we would end up throwing good money after bad.

I just hope he gets a few years for it!

did you try and buy the car back from the insurance company or the finance company. i but what is a few years thats not going to get my 22and a half grand back.but he could get bumm.. in the shower that would put a smile on me face.prison is not a punisment now these days they have tv , sky, playstasions, and no bills to pay come on better life in side than out i say.

Same thing happened to my brothers mates sister. She bought a 1 series BMW which set her back around 8 grand. My brothers mate went all the way to London to view the car. He did all the regular checks and everything came back clear, he was happy with it, he paid in cash and drove it back to Manchester. Everything was fine for awhile until his sister was pulled driving it and informed it was cloned, and the car was taken from her. This happened about 2-3 months ago now, and as far as I am aware they haven't been able to get a penny back. :(
