Point is though, you may not be working at all because of it Scuba. Your wages stay the same I imagine, except adjusting inline with inflation and as you gain experience etc. If the business has to cut into the profit margins, i.e. what the boss/shareholders get to keep the business flowing then that's what they have to do. Turning away business that you can still profit out of (unless you have a queue of punters to choose from) is rarely a smart move.

I know it isn’t your decision, but I’m saying this anyway. You have to move with the market, give the customer what they wan etc.

Business is business I guess,

Thats right.

I'm sure if your boss asked you to come to work, but wouldn't be able to pay you as the job only covers costs, buts it's OK as the customer's happy...... you'd tell him where to go..

Well no.

Fixed costs + Variable Costs = Total Cost.

Provided Total Revenue is greater than or equal to Total Cost, then it makes more sense to run the RR day than it does to leave the place closed. Your wage forms part of the variable costs. There are what, 50 weekends in a year. If you have more than 50 clubs who want an RR day then it makes more business sense to turn us away than it does to run the day for us but I guess only you know whether you really have 100% occupancy levels on the RR?

Now, I dont know the figures, but I'd be suprised if running the Rolling Road for 4 hours on a Saturday morning costs the company more than £500 (The revenue from 20 runners at 25 each).

But, if it does, then no problem, it makes sense not to run it and we can simply chose another supplier who has lower costs.

I have no problem you all going somewhere else that has a better deal, let them work for peanuts if it keeps you all happy.

I don't think £500 for 2 staff and a machine is peanuts, personally. The thing about business is that if you reward loyalty, you'll encourage repeat custom. And do you get more loyal than 9 RR days on the trot?

Straight off the bat several other RR operators have offered us a better package despite never having seen us before. That was the opening offer to a bunch of unknowns.

3 staff.. one is in the office. ;)

There is only two answers then really.
1. The boss is stubborn and the price is the price
2. It costs as much to run the dyno as it takes in revenue

I think even I know the answer that one. :o

No matter, despite the joviality , just sorry I couldn't get a better deal going.
I know how many RR's you've done with us as I've done most of them.

Thats a shame.

2. It costs as much to run the dyno as it takes in revenue

Is that in fixed or variable cost?

If its a fixed cost (ie per year) then any contribution to fixed costs is better than nothing. Obviously this doesnt apply if its all variable cost and the dyno costs the business nothing for every day it sits idle.

Whats the big cost in running the Dyno? Lets be generous and say £200 of the day is you and the bosses wages. £300 in... where does the rest go?!

Confused.

Do specs get coke and pizza or just the runners?

Also, what pizza company is it?

I also think it's probably going to be best if you organise it at Eurospec and we see how it goes. :)

Another question, SMG, Auto etc. can they run them?

In the safe??

LOL I have no idea.

It was a choice to pick 1 or 2 by the way, not both..

But FYI if nothing else the front fan is 7Kva the rear fan 5Kva, roof fan 2Kva and intercooler fan also 2Kva. all 3 phase
Not sure how the eddy current retarders work / how much they power they take to absorb the cars energy but **** me there is a lot of heat ;) (most from the cars I should imagine)
Tiny bit of leccy for the lights and the PC, although some of the breakers / circuits in the control box are 3phase also.
No heating in the dyno obviously but workshop will be fired up and lit up for the duration as well.

Well theres no need to bicker, we'll just have it in Guildford ;)

This may or may not be because it's nearer to me

I've sent the questions off and asked :)

I know that they know how to properly run a tiptronic VR-4 (as they have done quite a few from ClubVR4) so I'm sure auto/SMG will be fine.

Will update as soon as I get answers :)

I might be up for this depending when it is, as my girlfriend lives in North London so it's not too much of a journey rather than coming from North Yorkshire!

Also, just my 2p, £30-35 is the going rate up here - I've been to a few RR Days with SeatCupra.Net at Motoscope in Northallerton and RSTuning in Leeds, Motoscope was £35 and RSTuning was £30 iirc. I seem to remember AwesomeGTI being a similar price too.

If I do come I wouldn't mind putting my leon on the rollers, it made ~178bhp/270lbft at Motoscope and ~170bhp/250lbft at RSTuning so I'd like a 3rd figure to compare them to, as there was a lot of debate at RSTuning as most peoples cars were down on power compared to what they 'should' have been (an example was a mk2 leon whose figure was a good 20% less than 7 other RR print outs he'd been to before, including one at the same place!)

Eurospec said:
Yeah, for everyone mate, and its Dominoes!

I can run almost all autos as long as it has a way of locking in a gear- such as tip on VR4, or hold in gear like a supra etc can. Most autos can do this no probs. SMG in the beemers should be fine. Sometimes the M3's etc can be a pain to get the TC to come off totally, but i've done them before.

Sounding even better still!

Sounding even better still!

Subsidised Pizza for spectators?!? That's rather good of them! All of this and only round the corner. Me likey.

There are a decent amount of roads not too far away as well. Went over Leith Hill about a week ago. My that was a bit of a giggle :)

This is sounding good! Free Pizza.. EPIC :D

Shame Powerstation won't budge on the price, it was good last year :(

Damn, I just realised how much further it is over >>>> way... than Powerstation :\

Oh well.. I'll probs end up staying with my aunt and cousins that weekend in Northolt ;)
