Tesco to dominate everything and the world?

there's only one....

So super markets are the wrong places the independents are the wrong places...

yet we are to believe in these mythical places where the shop keeper runs the place out of the goodness sof his heart cutting into his profits to buy higher quality produce rather than the stuff that gets rejected by supermarket suppliers.

My pockets are lined with lint, not gold dust. I want to buy brand name and reasonable quality fresh foods to feed my family of four at a low cost. I also want to be able to do my week's shopping in one store as I would prefer to spend my time with my family than in several shops.

Are you telling me that the company that allows me to do this, to feed my family without having to forego luxuries such as an annual holiday should be shut down? That I should have to pay more for my food and not complain with it because it tastes better?

Yeah and why is that?
Because tescos have forced people trying to make an honest living out of the market.

because when there was more they where all ****.

the supermarkets offered considerably higher quality and choice at the same or lower prices.

But because tescos has fancy advertising and money behind them no independant has a change.

10 years ago maybe. Now is the perfect time for good independence store. Many are not good, terrible service and everything else. However good butchers, green grocers farmer shops are doing extremely well. I'm surprised takeaways have not got in on the action. it's a very good time to start a business if you can get funding and are passionate.

damn right on the butchers our local one makes his own recipe sausages which are made of win, won quite a few awards.

His chicken brest though are exactly the same quality as the uncalibrated ones in makro at twice the price though :p

Our local butcher, green grocer and farmer shop is always crowded. A new sweet shop has opened up and thats making a killing. Good produce at good price from local sources is taking of in a massive way. Although supermarkets wont die people have woken up..

Now I just need to research how to run a business and get funds for a takeaway with the same principles. good honest food from local producers at similar price level.

Independant shops don't bull**** or false advertise, they sell real food, they give a high quality of service, they treat their staff like human beings and don't want to dominate everything.

Business is business.

It all comes down to things like economies of scale.

written form is a way to record verbal form.
What?

It might be incorrect but who says I'm going to shop at tesco. It sounds wrong. Just like Asdas sounds wrong but asda sounds right.

I say "I'm going to Tesco" if I ever go, because, you know, that's what it's called?

The sign says "Tesco" the labels all say "Tesco", they refer to themselves as "Tesco".

Jack Cohen founded Tesco in 1919 when he began to sell surplus groceries from a stall in the East End of London.[5] The Tesco brand first appeared in 1924. The name came about after Jack Cohen bought a shipment of tea from T.E. Stockwell. He made new labels using the first three letters of the supplier's name (TES), and the first two letters of his surname (CO), forming the word TESCO.[6] The first Tesco store was opened in 1929 in Burnt Oak, Edgware, Middlesex. Tesco was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1947 as Tesco Stores (Holdings) Limited.[5] The first self-service store opened in St Albans in 1951 (still operational in 2009 as a Metro),[7] and the first supermarket in Maldon in 1956.[5]
From Wikipedia, though I've heard it many times before it was on wiki.

Must admit the Wife and I get our main shop from Tesco's every Sunday (before the footy all starts !!) with the expection of Frozen goods. We tend to go to ASDA midweek for that as they have a better range IMO.

What and exciting life I lead.

I'd rather be a vegetarian that feed my family supermarket rubbish personally. I would want to raise my children to appreciate quality.

It's quite easy to feed a family of 4 for £60 on good quality produce if you don't waste anything and cook things from scratch. Butcher your own meat instead of buying prepacked stuff. Make your own sauces instead of buying overpriced jars. Use leftovers. Boil bones for stock.

It's about not chucking half your food in the bin, my family eats big portions and eat like kings off a small budget.

If I don't work, i don't get to college. Simple as.
I get kicked out of my house for not pay rent as well.

What about working elsewhere? I'm guessing you'll probably say Tesco were the only ones who had jobs available, in which case, if it wasn't for Tesco existing then you wouldn't have a job. :p

Because the job market is crap. I've been trying to work elsewhere but no one is hiring.

My mum got me the job, if tescos didn't exist she'd be working somewhere else and could have gotten me a job there more than likely.
