Sapphire 5970 - Delivered

Hope you are enjoying your new card.

I must admit I have ordered two full PC's worth of stuff over the years from OcUK and must admit I have always had amazing packaging. Couldn't fault them tbh!

Nonsense! I live in Canada, and trust me, cold weather will not do that to a seal on a box like that. You would have to take off your thick, insulated gloves or mittens, then make sure you have long fingernails, then proceed to peck and chip at the sticker with your fingernails to open it.

What an I getting at? Return it, because there might even be something missing that you would not know about from the box!

Doesn't look chipped at to me.

Embed, has your card been shipped with the updated BIOS, that allows manual fan control.

Running perfect:

Any idea why i cant download the tweak utility they gave me:

Good to see you are underway .... I just downloaded from that URL without issue. When I initially got the redline tool I got unsupported hardware when trying to run it .. 64 bit OS Issue I think. So, I use MSI Afterburner to alter the core voltage and to set the clocks .. mine is doing fine @ 870/1250 with 1.125v on the core and stock Memory voltage. It will go to 930 core on 1.165v but VRMS get a bit toasty.

Well i can adjust the fan speed yes. but is takes ages for the fan to respone, not instant 0-100 like the old 4870x2 i had.

@Rave

Yea i like it. But I'm having issues with the drivers sadly.

I'm getting freezes that lock my comp up totally and require a forced reboot. I'm getting a flickering section of my monitor.
CoD:MW2 has some issues too:

I think its just hte drivers that are dodgy. Im running the 9.12 + hotfix

i've had good experiences from both. Luck of the draw and more specifically down to the individual who's doing the packaging having had a bad day the night before (or in general) and allowing their professionalism to wane a 'little'.

The stickers there using to stop the box opening in transit (thats all these stickers are) are rubbish TBH, if it was meant to be a secure sticker it would tear the box when peeled

Can anyone help me? I'm becoming slightly annoyed...

Iv started gaming on the card. Now all i get is whole computer freezes.
I start playing a game and then a maybe 5-10mins into the game my computer stops working and im forced to manually reboot...

This is happening on ALL of my games..
BF2, CoD4, CoD5, CoD5, Dirt2, NFS Shift, OFP2...

This card is become more hassle that its worth!

Just so i no what im entitled to, can i return this card for a full refund even if i have used it and dont want it?
Thanks,
Em

Within 7 days I think, yes.

I think there are new (beta) drivers out, I'm not sure though - I'm not following it too closely.

Is this 7 days that i revived it from or 7 days from when they sent it?

Because it was stuck at the depot for a week due to snow...

Yeah you probably could but you know damn well your system is gonna get blamed well before the card ever does.
which will prob go for RMA and come back with the thumbs up then ur shafted only thing i can think is maybe ask a friend to try it first in their machine just to make sure there is not a niggle to work out somewhere.

I had to completely reinstall OS when i got my 4870 it was just running like poo think there were remains of old drivers scattered around the system interfering with it.
did a fresh install with the 9.11's and it was fine installed 9.12's fine too altho quite a lot of people are having probs with 5970
think it's just a case of waiting for them to iron out the creases so to speak the more people that report problems the more likely they are to get fixed

Im looking for an option to return an item, that isnt faulty, on the site but i cant find one.

Do i have to use the RMA option? There isnt anything wrong with the card i just want to return it.

you'd have to call them first thing They may offer you a reduced refund tho think the max allowed of total sale price is 20% for time and handling and having to sell the item on as used. Cause if they sold it on as new again they would be breaking the law.

things like this can kinda get complex very quick saying that i've never had a problem returning anything anywhere. If you know your rights your good to go.
i once took a pair of trainers back after 3 months cause the soles were wearing out and said they were unfit for purpose. FULL REFUND OFFERED :)

You've only had it in 5 minutes, it will more than likely be your overclock unstable, i think you only get 7 days under DSR(not your fault was at depot because of snow), but should imagine that will be from when you received it.

If your refuring to the gfx card being overclocked, i havent touched it. Its factory overclocked.
Or if you mean my i7 im currently running it at 3.6ghz with a good vcore that is 100% prime stable.
