China slapping 17% on export fees

yes basicly everything u buy, will proably have something in it made in china.

it's a good job that Nike and Adidas only pay about £5 to make a pair of trainers then.

Well, if you are importing (As I have in the past) its good to know. As not only will the UK add on 17.5% (+ parcel farce / royal fail etc add on their £15-odd) then the prices are actually now getting rather too high.
China has obviously worked out that they own pretty much ALL the electronics fab plants . . . .

I cant find anything about this on the internet, all I can find mention of is that Chinas export rose by 17.7% to make them the largest exporter in the world.

I think they've always charged 10-15%, more on some stuff. BTW, they call it a tarrif.

I doubt China tax their exports. They already keep their currency artificially low to create more exports.

Trainers are usually made in either Vietnam or Indonesia.

Anything manufactured in China, which is pretty much everything nowadays.

I don't know anything about this 17% but a lot of manufacturers are desperate for work so there is room for hard negotiation.

Getting some quotes to put a product in to production soon so it will be interesting to see how it comes out.

i could have misheard the news bbc but definately thought it said there putting a 17% tax on export

Have to say, from your description I'd most likely think you're talking about EU anti dumping duty (not a Chinese export tax). Does this link sound vaguely like what you meant?

If it is then it's not a new duty just an extension so no price rises should arise from it.
