Any free steam stuff going??

Is HL2 that good? Is it worth me buying?
I remember trying to play the original HL on a crummy Cyrix. I gave up as it was a waste of time on that PC.
Is it worth revisiting?

EDIT: MY EMOTICONS DEMAND THEIR SANTA HATS BACK!

HL2 is good, but buy the Orange Box Collection: HL2+Expansions, TF2 & Portal as it is excellent value. It is sometimes on special offer on Steam if you are not in a hurry....

Farcry is a brilliant game. You can get it for free and no need to register or anything like that http://www.gamershell.com/download_20867.shtml

Sadly Far Cry isn't free anymore. From your quoted site:

Update:
The promotion is now closed and it is no longer possible to play the game for free. If you are interested in further information on this title, visit the Ubi official website at http://www.ubi.com/

It's still worth buying if you're after something good.

I have just for the first time installed steam and on a rig I ahve newly built. And have, I shamefully admit, never played Half Life 2. I am eagerly awaiting Aliens Vs Predator 3. However, and this might seem a touch pykey, I was wondering if anyone had any free steam games going? Stuff which they may ahve duplicates of but never use etc?

*please keep any abuse to a minimum due to my sensitive nature :D

As i am sure you will make sure you max out all the settings on HL2 before you start playing as it doesnt auto detect.

You are in for a treat it's the best game ive ever played! EP1 and EP2 are just phenominal too! I am gagging for EP3!

Oh bugger, cheers.
Over half way now so...I guess I need a code if I want to play it?
*EditReading on I would have needed to live in the U.S. to play it any how; stupid heads up RobRX-7.
Trackmania will be had, thanks for this heads ups PapaLazaru. :)

It's ad supported, so I'm guessing it will require you to login each time to play it and periodically download new adverts. Just a guess though.

EDIT: Ah well, theres always other free games. Don't know if any of them are on Steam, but these are.
