DIY Astronomer captures amazing images of the Sun!

Does anyone have a video of what happens when you point a telescope at the sun? Is it the same as when you use a magnifying glass on an ant, only with the power of 10 billion hydrogen bombs?

Duh. It's on standby. Would be black if it was off.

:D Lol

Nope, and yes, Thats why you always check the scope on a piece of paper first. If the solar filters are damaged it can blind you.

Oh, and a word to anyone thinking of trying this -

You can get solar filters that screw into an eyepiece instead of covering the front lens - DO NOT USE THESE. They are dangerous and are prone to fracturing due to heat build up. They are easily damaged and if this happens you will be blinded. DO NOT USE THESE.
