**HTC HD2 Thread**

- Found an extremely GOOD program that has solved allot of issues for me. Mainly increasing battery life 10x.
It stops the phone continually staying connected on the internet that will be a very large drain on battery life.
imho this phone should have had this built in at release.

Taken from my post on the XDA forums.

Sorry if it's glaringly obvious, but does that automatically connect and disconnect or just automatically disconnect?

For example if I have my emails set to download every 10 minutes, will that not work if I use this or will it just connect every 10 minutes and then disconnect after 30 seconds again?

installed swype from xda forum and loving it! so much less hassle when typing.I find the size of the hd2 much less of an issue now I don't have to hold the phone properly to type. id recommend people give it a go :)

Disconnect after 30, 60, 1 minute your choice.
My email (exchange) is working perfectly.

My only gripe with it thus far is the weather update connection. That doesn’t get cancelled. I’ve just selected mine not to update as I look outside for my weather.

Seems that the general opinion of these HD2s is one extreme or the other - love it or hate it.

My plan is to get one for £80 on £25pm with Virgin. Then if I decide I don't like it, I will just unlock my iPhone 3G, use the Virgin contract (as my iPhone contract is up in 2 weeks) and sell the HD2 for £400 ish :D

Sound like a plan?

Will I be able to do this?

I must admit I was pulling my hair out at how sensitive the screen was and how bad I was at texting, but swype really is a joy to use and coming from an Omnia anything had to be better.

I personally couldnt find it on xda as the files had been pulled but a quick 2 second search for swype cab sorted that problem out.

These are encoded at the correct resolution but they still look squashed up on the device but fine in windows.

Might be due to 1280x720 being 16:9 and 800x480 being 16:10.

I might need to encode them to be 800x450 in that case.

I use this encoder: http://www.kr00t0n.com/Kjam/winmenc-0.81-package.7z
With this profile: http://www.kr00t0n.com/Kjam/[kr00t0n-HD2] MP4 H264 800x480 2000kbps.ini

Put the ini in the 'profile' folder that WinMEnc creates.

I have created a 800x450 ini and am doing a test encode now (slower on my work machine though, grrr!), and will upload when it is done.

Anyone get this handset on the Virgin deal mentioned a few pages back? If so, is the handset a generic, unbranded model? Ta

Pretty sure it's unbranded mate.

I'm possibly getting one tonight if I can. I don't have a credit card, and therefor no credit score, so I might not be able to :(

If I do, I'll be getting it on that deal, using my iPhone 3G as a work phone :)

Its Unbranded. Had mine yesterday :D Just comes with a small virgin sticker on the box and nothing more :)

Love it, was scared of it not matching up to the iphone (which Im a fan of!). But it really does from the small amount of time Ive spent with both phones.

I was really amazed with "around me" on the iphone but Ive just discovered bing and it is certainly a match to around me :)
