**HTC HD2 Thread**

Can you get rid of the bloated themes on this phone? e.g I would rather look out the window/around to see what the weathers like and the clock looks way over the top to me :(

Can it be cut down to be nice and clean or are you stuck with all the flashy stuff?

Not sure about the weather thing, but have a look http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=531. There are lots of people writing apps and customising the HD2, I'm sure I came across a few things that have made the HD2 home interface look simpler.

Just got mine on t-mobile, Phone was £90, on a £15 p/m contract (100mins, unlimited txts, unlimited internet) i upgraded so got a rather nice deal lol. As you can tell im not a huge calls users lol.

First impressions of the phone is, its very responsive, been playing with it for a few hours now, and adding some of the graphical tweaks, and apps.

Very nice phone indeed, glad i went for it, even though i had to pay a one off fee for it.

Good deal! The guy I spoke to re upgrades would not budge on price at all, my existing plan was £25pm and they wanted £260 to upgrade, or basically take a new customer plan, i said i'll take the Virgin deal as they would not match and they said fine no probs thanks for you custom.

Ouch, thats not good, ok iv been with them for 4 years, but im not exactly a heavy user, i guess i got such a good deal as when i first rang up i just wanted a pac code, had no intention of staying with them really, fancied a change.

And the fella just kept trying and trying, i even got offered that contract minus the internet bit, on any lower end phone, for £5 p/m lol. But as soon as he offerd me the htc deal i was like, ok u got me lol.

Guess u got a grumpy arse, but there loss, ur getting a better deal else where so thats all that matters.

Ended up going for this, got one on the way to me from O2

£35 a month, 600 minutes, 1000 texts, unlimited web...most importantly a free phone :-)

Probably not the best deal possible but I am happy with that.

Well mine won't update the weather/location - "Connection Error: THere was a connection error while attempting to download wether data. Retry?"

Every....time.

Well I tired my hand with retentions at T-Mob but they were slack so I have my PAC code now...

so its either that Virgin tarrif, or the Voda Tarrif. I think the Virgin one wins!

hmmm,

750 Anytime Mins, Unlimited Landline, Internet and texts, £30 pm on vodafone business... 24 month, but with 24 month warranty,,, sounds good to me!

try this: (from xda)

Settings > Wireless controls > Menu > Connections > Manage existing connections > Proxy Settings (tab) > uncheck 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet'

Okay so as much as I love this phone - the bugs are really starting to **** me off.

I've always put up with HTC's annoying quirks and bugs, even back when I had my Universal... but this morning I was almost pushed too far.

I tried to send an MMS, but it got stuck in the outbox (a common ANNOYING bug - which has NO FIX! - nothing concrete anyway it seems), so I delete the MMS, re-create it and try again........ nothing..... doesn't even attempt to establish a data connection at all.

So I give it one more try... but this time, when i go to attach the photo - it magically can't see my SD card! (16GB Sandisk).

So i think.... well sod it, nothing a reboot won't fix!

So I reboot.... put my password in: INCORRECT PASSWORD. Hmm that's weird, must have fat-fingered it........ 4000 tries later....... RAGE

So i've left the phone without the battery in for a while and also done some soft resets..... still nothing.

Now when i enter the password, I don't even get a confirmation of "wrong password" - i just press the unlock button and it does..................... nothing!

I am so royally fed up right now....... bugs and kinks I can handle...... but having a USELESS phone that I can only get back into, by hard resetting..... is ******* ANNOYNG to say the least.

I've e-mailed HTC, but i'm sure they'll just say: oh lolz! hard reset - all okay! thanks bai!

:(

For those wanting to test out 720p encoded to high quality 800x480, try these trailers I encoded:

Play them in HTC Album, NOT Core Player.

Great work. Videos certainly look impressive.

Is there an easy way to play them in HTC Album? Tried to associate it with the HTCVideoPlayer but nothing happens.

Only way I can get it to work is to click on album and then locate the files from the storage card but that's a bit time consuming as it scans the whole sd card.

Ok, managed to sort this out. Just copied the .mp4 files to the storage card\my documents\my video (had to create the folder first tho). Now the mp4's just appear in the album as soon you copy stuff into that folder.

Will be interested if you do any more conversions. The quality is the best I've seen on the HD2.

I've been with them nearly 5 years, can't really complain as my last phone an mda compact 4 i got free when they were pretty expensive, still fetching £100+ on ebay :D

Maybe a dumb question, but I want my phone to use only my office/home WiFi when I'm at work/home, and not use my contract internet through vodafone. If I have a connection to a wireless network will the phone automatically use that, even though the phone is saying it's connected to contract internet?

Ovr: As for the weather app not updating. I had to manually add my location (click on the weather tab and then menu, add location). Now it works fine. Hope that helps.
