Guys,

I got my Intel SSD drive arriving tomorrow , whats the best way to install it? I ma thinking.....Install to my case , boot up using my o/s on my other drive , download toolbox and update firmware if required , Shut down , restart using my win7 dvd , then at the drive options , format my old drive with my O/S on , and install win7 onto new SSD drive? does that sound ok , or am i missing anything?

Kind Regards

Sounds good. Sensible installing the newer firmware first too. I installed windows 7 on mine first, then the firmware update but if you can do it the other way that's better because a small minority have had problems.

I'm sure you probably know but when you're booting make sure you get the hard drive priority right when you want to boot using either your hard drive, CD, or SSD. :)

Burn the firmware image to disk, install SSD, boot from firmware flash cd, flash, install windows. And yes it's simple to install. Make sure your boot priotys are right and the flash program won't detect the SSD if it's in RAID mode.

Is there much improvement between the 02HA and 02HD firmwares, both support trim in windows 7, I've not bothered to update my SSD yet, which came with 02HA preinstalled.

The 100 MB/s write performance boost with the latest firmware applies only to the 160 GB model. Both benefit to a small but noticible degree with the added TRIM support. You'll also get around 80-85 MB/s seq. write with the 80 GB on a decent controller. Couple of benchmarks below. Both running on onboard Intel ICH10R.
