yeah, just got to shift my 2 older systems to make some funds for a case, hsf and gfx card and will be happy.

lol yeah, cant justify that kind of money for very little storage though, maybe another 1TB drive in raid 0 though ;)
 
still the 10-15secs, but im pretty confident thats normal now as its done it from 1st turn on and people comments on here suggest its fine so im happy now:)
 
I take it you've got your RAM Multi set at x14 (x133(.3)) then to get it to 1866MHz?
If you have'nt already then you could check the correct voltage is being applied, 1.65 instead of 1.64.
Also check the timings maybe, as on Auto it could be tightening them.

there is a profile in the bios (XMP something) that when loaded puts all the correct settings for my ram in.
 
1 when i set my ram to run at 1866Mhz (1890MHz i think is its actual speed) windows experience stopped working, any ideas?

lowered vcore and its now working fine and giving me a ram score of 7.9

2 what should the stock cooler/settings temps be at idle and under load roughly (i know case and internal fans will make a difference)?

seems to be sitting at 54deg idle and max 77deg 100% load

3 long wait before post on my GA-X58-UD3R, is this normal?

normal as its doing a self saftey check

4 when i go to physx configuration i get errors (cant remember the exact files) do i need to download a physx setup or does it come in the gfx drivers package?

anyone got any ideas??

5 is there anyway to increase my hard drive speed (turn off indexing, search...)?

other than raiding it or buying an SSD there is nothing i can really do

6 do i get another 9800GTX+ cheap and SLI or sell and start again?

looks like a HD5850 is the best option and then get a second when they drop

does that all sound about right? can anyone fill in the unanswered ones?

Cool, look like you have most things nailed down.

As for the physx configuration, is this in the Nvidia control panel tab that you get errors and what are the specific errors?

Also, what version of the Nvidia drivers are you using?
 
First thing I'd do is uninstall drivers, reboot etc re-install, if that fails then try a different version.

Which ports do you have the HDD's connected to?

the nvidis control panel says its enabled, its when i click on the physx icon in the start menu, says missing or corrupt files i think. running latest drivers off nvidias site
 
Is that not just a shortcut to the nvidia control panel, physx tab? Thats the only Physx icon in my start menu, not exactly essential.

Does Physx work propely in physx optimised games like mirrors edge or Batman Arkham Asylum? (full list here)

havent got round to installing any games yet, want to make sure everything is working first incase i need to reinstall again.

will check the error codes in a min.
 
installed the physx software off nvidia site and now the icon is gone, so now i have no problems, as windows cant tell me i do if there is no shortcut to click :)

just played NFS:SHIFT with EVERYTHING on high and res being full 1080p. now before it would stutter like made when cars came in contact with eachother or the barriers, now its smooth all the time. now i no the cpu probably isnt the reason for this its probably the fresh install, but still, soooo happy with it now.
