Rugby League Season Starts Soon

SkySports says Wigan v Hull KR Friday 12th February will be first televised game. I will be at Wigan as usually only get to go to the away games barre 3-4 home games per season.

I've always travelled to Hull by car, but, it might be a change to go by train this year. Are there good transport links from Hull Station?

Yeah, definately. KC stadium isn't far to walk from the station at all, like 5 minutes.

Craven Park is a bit further out and you would need a bus to get there (number 76, 77) and a bit of a walk. Easier to drive to Hull KR tbh.

You can walk to the KFC from Hull station, wouldn't fancy getting on a bus from there to Craven Park though.

physichull: 76, 77? Get the direct Greatfield bus! ;)

Well 76 and 77 were the only buses I've ever used (through towards Withernsea) so that was all I could suggest. You can get them to stop at Marfleet lane and walk (not much further from where I park up on Marfleet Lane and use the cut through paths to reach Craven Park near the West stand, then walk round to East stand turnstiles).

I drove through Branshome once to visit my mate and he said he had bought his house for 2k and all the houses round him were shut up. Very weriod feeling indeed to an outsider.

Yeah there are a lot of houses boarded up round there.

Some of the houses on Preston Road are brilliant though, especially those round the ground. Most are done up with red and white decor and some have matchday balloons outside in the gardens, a chirpy, lively place and is always good to see.

You're not too far wrong there. I used to live out in the surrounding villages where it was a bit better, only 100 yards from where Chaz I Anson lives now, my parents still reside there.

Have we had this discussion before? Can I ask which village?

The general consensus was that Noble had taken them as far as he could. The team underachieved (again) last year and it was only through injuries that he was forced to play some of the youngsters (eg Sam Tomkins). Some of the senior players (eg Fielden) could, more or less, do what they wanted without the slightest chance of them being dropped. Fitness and conditioning looked to be a problem (wait till you see the new streamlined Riddell and Feka).

Good luck to him, he pulled us out of the mire (together with Uncle Mo's <ahem> creative accounting) in 2006 and we won't forget that

When he left for Wigan, it was the end of an era. There was a lot of disquiet amongst the fans, but, ultimately we knew he would do good things for Wigan.

Hopefully he will return one day, one can dream. lol

He kept us up and we had half a season of Fielden when he was in his pomp. He never really had the players to play the power game he had at Bradford, but it didn't stop him trying.

Ot oh Huddersfield players......6 arrested over a rape incident. May end up as nothing but you never know. Rugby League players have never been pillars of virtue.
