The weirdest phrases thread.

Lol, that doesn't clear anything up. Why are they sorry? Maybe if they said 'I feel bad for you' but not 'Sorry'.

Sorry does not just mean a direct apology. It is also an expression of regret. You don't have to be directly involved in a situation to be sorry about it.

Some people in this thread really need to study English (and history) a bit more.

Most phrases and idioms are easily explained.

'I didn't do nothing'.

Funny seeing how confused they get when you tell them that if they didn't do 'nothing', then they must have done 'something'.

the one i said, I know obviously what it means. I think for some of these phrases theyre not weird as in they don't make sense it's more why say that and not just say the actual meaning i.e. "thats not useful" instead of "it's about as useful as a chocolate teapot"

Exactly.....just like 'As much use as a handbrake on a canoe'.

Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves

Excessive use of 'Like I said'

Annoys me because I have started doing it when talking to customers now

Very nearly never killed a dead man.

Meaning = you nearly did something but not quite.
It's an old one.
