IMHO the forum effect is more powerful than any review/demo etc. I've ended up in soo many games as a result. I don't think you will be sorry - I can see this game developing over the next 6 months.

that's it bought and downloading, my cc bill after christmas, December steam offers and now this game is going to be mental but oh well! why have a gaming machine if you don't use it! im glad i didnt pick up Colin Mcrae 2 last night!
So anyway, GA Live & GA Beta appear on my games list, although so has 'Zero Gear' - any idea what that is?

The GA Live you can download nearer the time when the game is released. The beta you can download and play now. Zero Gear is weekend trial thing.

yeah i forgot about the zero gear thing, i thought it had to do with GA as i only noticed it after purchasing GA.
Halfway downloaded the beta, cant wait to play, although im a bit bummed out because my mic on my headset has stopped working... i think it has died.
Sods law, buy my first MMO and my mic dies on the same day!
looks like i will need a new gaming headset asap
.Some good games this afternoon. A couple of the Agency guys Primal and Awake are level 30's awake was doing massive damage with his assault guy and Frapple was doing an excellent job at healing.
Did two hi sec pve's they are mad - particularly the boss fight - worth the try but vent came in a lot of use.

well, ive been playing GA for a couple of hours, and i'm quite impressed, graphics in game are good although in-game movies are don't look as good... usually in game video is better than the gameplay graphics, but it doesnt really matter.
Its an interesting game, although i expected it to be a lot bigger, i hope that when it finally launches we arent just stuck in a dome and have to replay the same 5 PvP and 5 PvE missions over and over again.
I also wonder why i have to wait in queue to jump into a mission when there's like 12 people already playing, i thought it could handle up to 60 vs 60... again i hope this is just down to it being the Beta.
i guess i just found it a bit hard being a level 5 and playing with a heap of randoms who didn't really apply any tactics.
Im not knocking it, i enjoyed it thoroughly... i just hope that this is a scaled down Beta version.

The 60 v 60 is the AVA and as I understand it is 10v10's x 6 where they are linked in some way. You cannot join an existing PVP game (unless you crash out in which case it reconnects you which was good!). I suspect at any one time there are 10's if not 100's of PVP games going on. I think there are roughly 20,000 signed up to the preorder - not sure how many of that are playing. You can go to transport and see how many are on each server - though in games I think they all merge if that makes sense - i.e the matches are drawn from all of the servers.
Teamplay - at the moment the voice aspect seems to be down - when it was working a couple of days ago it was one of the best implementations i've experienced. I understand they use Teamspeak 3 behind the scenes so that explains it but it does need this for the coordination. I can't remember if you joined Doom - if you didn't the web site is here http://www.doom-guild.co.uk/. Early days but they've got ventrilo and coordinate in pvp. It's held back by the max 4 people in a team rule - but it will allow you to get in game in pvp and cordinate with buddies and voip. Hopefully we can get some AvA actio** edit: Just read voice notes and voice in pvp is limited to your team - not the side **
Maps - i'm not sure. The PVE maps aren't bad but again could do with more variety. Likewise the PVP. I don't think they will get any bigger but they do need to change. Also the other PVP modes I don't think are as good as control. The train one is just plain lousy at the moment - totally skewed to the defender. The devs have indicated that they will be rotating maps etc. Also indicating that the content from base game will have doubled in 6 months time - what the base for that is I don't know
I don't know if the AvA maps are any differentLevel - Level 5 is really low
Don't get disheartened by that being owned by lev 20's etc. Levelling is pretty quick and the max level to gain item or skill point is 30. Although implants are the other way you can change you modifiers and that's financially based.Tals

OK v and c don't work properly. Bit of an amusing situation where I think the v is the team chat so i'm chatting away in pvp to Barno and i notice the game is a lot chattier. Turns out the whole group can hear us. So next game to Barno I say "i'll try and keep chat to us" people start piping up that sounds cool etc soooo both are group based at the moment.
However the big lesson - talk on the group chat - we won both games and the teams worked together!

I sent an application to DooM yesterday, but i guess i was rejected? i have no idea... before when i went to the agency center it had something at the bottom saying 'DooM agency application pending' or something, now when i go it says nothing at all.

Good choice mate, i'm sure you won't be disappointed. The more I play it the more I can see it being a big hit, its just so much fun. We got a nice agency going which really helps with teamwork so you should join up.
Size of the client is around 6GB.
Cheers for the games earlier tals, that assault/medic combo is seriously powerful! I did find assault a bit one dimensional though. Although the kills were racking up it wasn't as much fun as the Recon where you really have to work for every kill/capture using everything in your arsenal.

Ok one thing - this game is not on the scale of planetside in the sense of no 200vs200. Instead it is 10vs10 or 6 x 10 vs 10. The game is great and I think the scale of the game works great. Its an amazing game. I'm loving it, just waiting for official release before I start hammering it

Exactly same thing with me, ive tried all the classes (medic is so the way forward), but really want to wait for release now so i can batter my character!
