Help Me Choose - iPhone 3GS or Blackberry 9700

Check on the 90k odd worth of apps...most of them useless.
Hmmm decent battery life??...ermm yeh if you turn off 3G and push email then you could get some extra battery life...funny that the 9700 you dont need to turn such things off so the battery on the 9700 kicks the iphone into the ground and rubs its face in it.
Great internet navigation??...yes that i do agree with but the browser on the 9700 isnt that bad...opera mini and bolt browsers do a fantastic job of internet browsing...i use the one that comes with the 9700 and it works perfectly fine for me....in fact most of my posts on here now are done through my BB.
They don't do a fantastic job compared to the iphone at all.

(I own a 9700 and am a bb fanboy, but lets be realistic)

Ok tell me what does the iphone do that the BB cant??..i cant think of anything really other than being probably a better multimedia device but the 9700 does the job for me pretty well.

Ahh ok web browsing?...yes the iphone is much better at web browsing ie rendering pages and is quicker...but BB are improving theirs and i think the next OS will have flash along with tabbed browsing. But i dont have an issue with the web browser on the BB...in fact we will get flash and the iphone wont get it lol.

So yeh other than that what else can the iphone do that the BB cant??...and im being realistic as ive played extensively with my bros iphone 3GS.

Browsering on the 9700 can be painfully slow, but I have found a work-around. Don't browser the Internet using the phone :D

I've tried both Opera and Bolt and still find both not that nice to use.

But hey-ho I can live with it. Gives me more reason to buy an Apple iSlate :D

Thats really the only thing i can think of that the iphone has over the BB...web browsing...in fact even Android and Winmo devices are better web browsing devices...but as i said i dont really browse the web as i have a pc at work but at home soon as i walk in the door i connect to my WIFI which is connected to my 20mb line so web browsing via WIFI is super fast for me.

Well just going through the slow process of setting the whole thing up and swapping all bits over from one to the other but it's a very nice phone. Txting and everything on it is easier than I thought it would be and it feels nice in your hand(oooh er).

I'll see how I get on...

what phone have you come from?

I think you forget that officially 80% of mobile browsing is done on the John at work.

Well im not in that statistic lol so cant speak for that...i dont browse the internet at work because where i work the signal isnt that great ie signla bounces off the buildings here in Canary Wharf.

I came from a Nokia N96 - this is so much faster and more responsive and better set out than the nokia is. I reset the n96 as it kept crashing so it was back to default settings and it still took me like 3/4mins just to open up a txt msg which was ridiculous. The blackberry is so so so much better. seriously.

Charged it up all day while I was at work. How do you like yours? :p

really liking it a lot

having a bit of trouble getting hotmail to work well on it, but ill solve it

really happy with it

just setting up orange maps sat nav, to see how that works now

I've set up my emails to come through the BBIS but when I'm abroad, will it still rinse my data charges aboard? Same question for BBIM?

Thanks

If you have roaming enabled on your device then yes any data when your abroad that your device sends or recieves will be subject to your networks roaming data charges..same with BBM.

Press your BB button...scroll down to manage connections..go to mobile network options...in there where it says while roaming change it either to prompt or off...prompt will bring up a message when your roaming asking if you want a data connection whereas off means it wont send/receive any data whilst abroad.

I have mine set to prompt as when im in Canada or America, which i am quite often..soon as i land and my phone gets onto the network it asks me if i want to have a data connection.
