New 27-inch UltraSharp U2711 WQHD announced.

16x9...

Really not liking the fact that the larger models are now losing the 16x10 aspect ratio as well now. Think I'll be sticking to my 1920x1200 screen for now.

Likewise, but hopefully they'll do what NEC are doing with their new line up and release the 30" model as well, with the full 2560 x 1600 goodness. And a 24" with the standard 1920 x 1200.

I've been waiting for something to come along that can naturally replace my Hazro 24" and this looks like it!

thoguh the LED imprved black levels though ? and LED TV`s seems to have really vibrant colours (not than LCD`s dont in general of course)

Black levels are not improved with any kind of LED's. However, contrast can be improved by using local dimming LED's (which, afaik, aren't available in monitors yet), because it allows the screen to dim in seperate areas, so you can get a better contrast between black areas and light areas, whereas a normal CCFL backlight or edge-lit LED's (like most LED screens) can only dim the entire screen, so you get "grey" blacks when you have a bright object on screen.

Also, in a monitor designed for colour uniformity and professional graphics work, dynamic contrast and local dimming is exactly what you DON'T want, as it can over-exaggerate colours that can then look very different on paper. The idea of IPS screens and such, are that they provide very true to life, consistent colours. Yes, they can get very vibrant, which is why quite a few of us like them for gaming, but they still maintain their consistency across the screen.

LED's don't count for colours unless you have coloured LED backlighting, which these don't.

Very interesting, this is just the sort of thing I've been hoping might surface, good size (30" is too much for me ...and my desk depth), good resolution, IPS panel, display port and HDMI. Hmmmm, interesting indeed.

Careful. As with all the high end Dell monitor releases, leave it a month or two to see what problems people are having. You may want to wait for a new REV or it may turn out to suffer poor QC.

I like that resolution but would like to see it in a 24" display like you see the 1920x1080 res in 22" screens now.
