In certain circumstances (like education) the subsidy is already built in to our taxation system.
shouldn't everyone pay the same amount of tax then ?

Planes have solid arm rests. You can't spill onto another seat. Either you fit or you don't.
show me one plane with solid armrests i have never seen one
since you normally can just pull them up so they're the same level as the seat itself

It seems fair to me, it's not really very pleasant for the person sitting next to them having their personal space encroached on.
if that happens then fine but the blanket weight limits suggested by some folks are what is unfair

sure it does but I am just lowering myself to the same level as the other intolerant types![]()
As I said a few posts back the 100kg was just an example, best not to take it as gospel.
Maybe another way would be to charge a flat fee for a seat, say £60 for flight x, then charge a set price per kg for weight (this includes person and baggage).
One problem with this is people might be tempted to buy up seats around them...
A blanket weight may not be the way to go, but something has to change
My recent trip back from England to the States, guy next to me asked for a 'seat belt extender' - was not pleasant sharing a seat with someone that barely fit into it in the first place, especially for 8hrs.
Paying for a fat persons extra space and being inconvenienced by their girth and appearance does not help society as a whole, air travel is not a basic human right.
Is that fair on a bloke who is 6ft 7, not his fault that he probably weighs about 18st
so many things covered by taxation are not a "human right" but I still end up subsiding folks
Example?
Most social services help society as a whole by helping the unfortunate, fat people travelling does not.
anyway as you ask many "unfortunate" are unfortunate due to being idle
Source?
How was it un-pleasant how did it affect you.
He was sat between the armrests and not spilling into your seat.
