spec me some house/dance

Although Deadmau5 can't be put into a single genre, he certainly is not trance.

nail on head.

if you want things a bit more breakbeat then anything from the stanton warriors is worth a listen. theyve got a couple albums including a fabriclive, otherwise look for recorded live sets on your fav (legal of course..) download place.

I'm going to have to listen to some old sets by Scot Project, Cosmic Gate, Eddie Halliwell, etc..

I get all mine from the forum livesetsonline. Better still, go and see them all live. Im not much of an Eddie Halliwell fan now, hes gone a bit crap. Sort of like Tidy boys. Think he uses some new form of mixing and has his own ed-it radio station or something. I am still to see Cosmic Gate but would love to, hopefully ill get myself to something like trance energy in the next year or 2.

If you havent already, find some Mark EG sets then go and see him play

I would say its more tech/house. Certianly not trance. Or not like what i think is trance

No Armin Van Buuren? cant beleive you missed that legend out! I've seen Tiesto, PVD and Armin live and PVD is a stuck up ****, who wouldnt even give a lass song, just finished his poor mix and left. Tiesto is brilliant as a mixer but his production isnt too fetchy for me, espec the way hes going with his new stuff.. Although I do love his in search for sunrise cd's. Armin just tops it off, his whole set live sent tingles and shivvers down my whole body, for most of the night I was in pure euphoria. His albums and production is second to none and I love pretty much everything from his label.

few great artists that you've missed out in terms of trance would be

John O'Callagan
Sunlounger
Gareth Emery
Sean Tyas
Rank 1
Marco V

Ive been using livesetsonline for quite a lot of years, has brought me many a set to blast out in the car on a bright sunny day. Was best in the times of hard dance/house, Then I started to listen to hardstyle way before it catched on here with everyone else, and by the time it got here, I got into it because I knew it, but its just been to commercialised.

Live sets is brill for recent and old sets, and you can even get tracked cd's off there sometimes

Eddie Halliwell is a pleb end who just loves himself and plays with the mixer FAR too much. He was brough to fame with the help of a local dance event I used to go to (good greef) and every year he'd make a 'come back' event which would al;ways be packed and crap.. hes just too electroey and as I said, thinks hes that great everyone wants to hear him **** around with a mixer rather than listen to some tunes. I agree with tidy, Seen them 4/5 times and every set is the same. Great first time, maybe second but after that it gets annoying. I think they hammered heavens cry wayyyyyyyyyy too much! and the fact once when I seen them they wernt even mixing but playing a cd from what I could gather!

nail on head.

I have a few cd's of stanton warriors and also plump dj's. I prefer justice / boyz noize when it comes to break beats, annie mac used to put on some great breaks sets, havnt been into that for some time though

annie has gone very dubstep at the moment.. doesnt really float my boat to be honest.

an easy start is to get the latest Gatcrasher Trance Allbum 1990 to 2009 (or something similar). Its got bucketloads of the top quality, mega tracks, remixed in a modern more fresh wrapping. Cant stop play it at the mo!

This, dics 3 is great.

if you've not got it get the daft punk Alive 2009 album too. thats well good.

Mauro Picotto, dave clarke. if you want some good techno.

see if you can pick up some mixmag cd's from the bay!! they should be nice and cheap. ibiza terance anthems is really good, also look for the touche house party cd... Old but mega!!!

Junkie XL - Booming bak at you
Dylan Rhymes - Dead Famous
BT - Emotional Technology

Not entirely house but a damn site nearer than all these people that can't tell the difference between house and trance.

On a separate note as previously metioned by thepigf@rmer a lot of the renaissance compilations are very good as are some of the global underground compilations. The sasha involver/invol2ver cds might be of interest to you too as they're quite housey. Might even recommend sander van doorn

Has anyone even looked at the artists he's currently listening to? He wants electro, non of this trance rubbish.

Who cares? He might end up finding something he likes that he wouldn't have otherwise came across.

While they might not fit your request exactly, I'd recommend:

Aphex Twin

Andy C

The Orb

Krust

There's more, but I'm knackered right now. :o

The Future Sound of London – Accelerator
Omni Trio - The Haunted Science
Hybrid – Wide Angle
Les Rythmes Digitales - Darkdancer
Mr Scruff - Keep It Unreal
