When washing your hands....

Soap and water has been more than adequate for centuries, but some some reason some people now feel the need to use a antibacterial rub of some description as well.

Is it any wonder we are all losing our immune systems and bringing up a load of wimps? This country................. *shakes head* :D

get off my lawn! *shakes fist*

:D

With the current paranoia about germs and bacteria caused by the swine flu panic, I wouldn't be surprised if the company I work for introduces sheep dip for all employees - we've already got those anti-bac dispensers (like in hospitals) in practically every corridor in all three buildings!!

As for hand washing, soap removes grease from your hands and with it any germs that are stuck in it, soap itself is not anti-bacterial (unless it has added agents). Washing hands after toilet use is necessary, but the current culture would have you believe that none of us have an immune system - the human race has survived a very long time without constant anti-bac hand cleansing!

unless you have some sort of infection would it be more hygienic to was your hands with your own wee? as wee is sterile but water from the tap could (possibly) have anything in it??

Can we stop this 'pee is clean' myth right here - yes it is sterile when you pee unless you have a nasty infection - but so is milk.

Would you wash your hands in milk?

The hand dryers that britboy4321 mentioned sound ace! Has anyone seen one of those new Dyson hand dryers yet? They are supposed to be incredibly effective.

The Dyson airblades are very effective but are also very expensive! I've seen them in quite a few places now. The hand dryer Britboy is talking about is likely to be the Xlerator (or equivilant). These can be seen in quite a few supermarkets now and are brilliant at drying, use less energy but are very noisy.

normally lick my hands clean

however, occasionally use the old soap/water thingy, unless im in a rush!

the hand dryer at work sucks though, its like being breathed on by an asthmatic cat..
i normally just use my trousers in the end after getting bored.. kinda defeating the object of hand washing! lol

Soap and water should always be your first choice, especially when leaving the toilet. Alcohol gel decontamination rubs struggle with enteric viruses (e.g. Norovirus) and should only really be used following 'clean' activity.

when did you realise you were gay?

When i was attracted to you.

J/k aside.

Sorry if my hygiene is better than yours, i like to take care of myself. Public toilets aren't as clean as they're cracked up to be you know.

Why would you not use soap?! surely you must know water alone wont kill germs or get rid of dirt .. I use soap or detol hand wash sometimes both and i will also use hand sanertizer if ive touched something germy like a bin

what heppends to all the anti germ crap when it goes down the plug hole... does it become inert ofter a while?...

also it it safe to eat? - I'm not going to eat any but if you wash your hands in it you will injest at least small ammounts...

Soap and water, i also carry a alcohol hand gel with aloe vera.

Thats bad for your immune system.
You don't get the more minor bactiria in yoru system, so you can't become immune to them, so you could get serously ill if you have a weakened immune system (being ill or something) and get an infection by one.

Always soap, do a proper scrub of my hands and wrists. Offices are such breeding grounds for germs. Luckily our security guard is a bit OCD and cleans all the door handles and the kitchen.

When we go shopping my housemate always picks up the first soap they see but I insist on it being "anti bacterial" for the bathroom. They also laughed at me when I had a stomach bug and after each trip to the toilet (bum or mouth output) I would bleach the toilet. Only trying to stop the spread of it and spare them!

Not just the security guard with OCD................;)

Seriously people - go live in a bubble.

You do realise the amount of poo bacteria floating around your house means that everything you put in your mouth has poo on it?

Enjoy your lunch. :D
