I really hate this attitude of "you can pvp effectively from day one, just join a corp, numbers win every time" BS.
its not BS as in not true, a hugely bigger force will almost always win but, its boring as frack. Its a zerg rush, theres no skill, if you went into an evenly numbered fight, the newbies would be owned.
To pretend 5% here and there doesn't matter is a joke, a newbie vs a high SP character in the same ship, the high SP character will have better gear, better skills and all those 5% add up to having double the resistance, the ability to tank 10k's more in damage, and the ability to do 2-3x the damage while they are tanking more than the lowbies can actually output as the low SP guys drop like flies it only gets easier and easier.
Yes, in a few VERY limited situations a new character can pawn a 60mil SP character, but usually because the 60sp mil character is being a griefing ho bag and doesn't care about losing his 300million ISK ship, while the 10 newbies he does manage to take out all start from scratch.
The only thing is its far easier to get into that a while ago as with the tutorials now vs years ago you basically get given everything up to a destroyer and lots of key skills aswell as 100x's the ISK doing the basic tutorial missions. Before hand you got no ships, or very few, no skills, barely a tutorial(with key rewards) meaning what little ISK you had was sunk into those early skills and ships.
However, I don't get why anyone pretends Eve is some difficult masterpiece with a huge learning curve, its like anything else, level up your skills get new kit, thats just about as hard as it gets. The only thing I hate about it is ludicrous leveling, someone who paid for an account for 4 years without playing, went in and legally paid for in game cash could have a setup that can make billions a week and totally pawn someone who spent 6 months playing every day all day, but simply doesn't have the skills to compete.
I think leveling should really be based on time played and not much else. If they HAD to do what they did with leveling skills there should be a HUGE bonus for actually playing while leveling, as you play you get 2-3x the rate of gaining SP's.
The biggest gripe, other than it being fairly damn easy, is people pretending theres no grind, there is, grinding out missions to get to higher level missions, just to grind lvl 4 missions for drops and money. Grinding out repetative deadspace complex's for money and drops, grinding out searching for anomolies/wormholes for money and drops, grinding mining for money and, money. Grinding out research to get better kit to manufacture, to get more money/kit.
Its a loot/money based game with a zerg mentality PVP, or people arranging "fair" tournaments/wars, and it being impossible for low sp characters to compete, a higher SP character won't ever win, but a 10vs 10 match, 10 20mil SP's characters will NOT lose to 10 2mil sp characters.
