Apple's January 27th Event

I also have a feeling that Jobs is playing it down and that there is a lot more to come for this product...
They're just going through the basics so yeah, I reckon more surprises to come.

Look at the model he's using, with its iPad text in the top left status bar. That invites a wifi or 3G signal icon!

I will never understand why Apple don't provide a live stream for these events, it would save so much faffing about.

I have to say though that this looks potentially interesting. I mainly use my MBP sitting on my lap in the front room for internet, email and music so this would have an application in my house. Flash would be an essential though and I really don't want to be paying for another mobile data subscription anywhere because I don't have 3G coverage at all here.

I'd love to know what the resolution of the sceen is.

You would have thought they would have a version of Leopard on it instead of iPhone OS, it would make it a lot more appealing

Hmm Steve sounds ill..

Not impressed with it to be honest. Although it's obviously running changes I think we'll see in OSX 10.7..

Waiting to see the eBook stuff - as is everyone.

The only thing I don't really like about the iPhone is the way you have to use the Home button to change apps. Press it and wait for the fade to the Home screen. Select another app, wait for the fade to the new program...

If they implemented a kind of dock for instant switching on this iPad because of the bigger screen, it would be better.

How can this thing play HD Youtube content when portable Macbooks (and pros) cannot (without the fans going mental and heating issues?)

What resolution is the HD video on itunes?

1080p without gpu acceleration would require a decent processor.

I still think holding it in one hand and using it with the other will take a lot of getting used to. I reckon thats why it has such exagerrated edges, so you can actually grip it without toughing the screen accidentally.
The audience weren't didn't yell/scream/applaud when it first appeared.
