What would you do if everyone just dissapeared?

I think I would base myself at an airport. Should be a good amount of emergency generator power already wired in and set up.

Loads of weather proof large warehouse for vehicle (all sorts), component storage, books/knowledge, weapons, food, water.

I would gather jcbs, cranes and the like. And set up big arrays of wind turbines and solar power (electric and water)

I would get absolutely huge water butts for run of water from the buildings. Although chances are bottle water would be plentiful.

I would go to librarys/shops and find survival, hunting, farming books.

I would set up computers and/or find books for flight simulation and learning things like navigation. Learn to fly, first in light aircraft then moving upwards.

Raid a military base for weapons, ammo and body armour.
Raid hospitals for drugs and equipments. Especially antibiotics.

Set up old fashioned wooden water turbines for pumping water for farming and for things like grinding flour.

I know ocuk is full of fairly intelligent people but i wonder how the average person on the street or a chav would cope, obviously they would do ok for a time but what about future planning, i suspect survival instincts might kick in over time but i do wonder about some people, i don't see them lasting long after food supplies turn bad and stuff.

It would probably take the average chav quite a few months to realise something was wrong anyway. They would only notice when the latest Burberry or Bench collection wasn't released.

You wouldnt actually need to do much of that. If you were the only human in existence then a Generator would be fine, Fuel isn't a problem, what is held in a single supermarket would last you for years and a fuel hand-pump would bypass the mechanical feed.

Learning to fly would just be dangerous in the extreme, so why bother, remember a broken limb and youre dead. Stock up on broad spectrum antibiotics and a good medical diagnosis tool is a good idea. Tinned food would last for decades, as would bottled water. A rifle and handgun would be sufficient as there are no Humans to worry about and most dangerous animals would stay far from you, not that there are that many. Domesticated animals turning feral would be the biggest threat, again an innocuous dogbite could kill.

You would be better off, in a small holding somewhere, away from cities and towns (feral dogs etc, rotting food, crumbling infrastructure are all hazards you could do without). Grow what fresh food you can, tinned and frozen food would take up the slack. A couple of good generators and a large strong electrical fence would deter most animal threats and supply the electrical power. A couple of dirtbikes and a landrover or two for transport. The roads would be pretty impassable due to abandoned vehicles and degredation.
Teach yourself mechanics, gardening, husbandry and wood and metal work. useful stuff. You dont need extreme survival techniques or SAS training. Growing enough wheat to bring in a viable crop for flour production however small would be a full time job so wouldnt be practical, get used to a vegetable and meat diet with tinned food for variety.
Your biggest problem is being alone, too many tasks require two or more people, most people would be sinking into madness within a few years.

lol why do people suddenly stock up on assualt rifles. you are the only human on earth. no ones shooting back.. dont say wild animals please lol

Fuel deteriorates after time.

something like learning to fly would be worth the risk.

tinned food is horrible so I would prefer to farm.

Buildings don't just crumble especially if maintained and I would rather be in buildings.
Again rotting food and animals are only a problem if you don't look after the area. Clearing it and burning waste. Airports are generally fenced of as well. So some security is already in place. With large grass areas, water supplys (which they grow reed beds in) and other favourable conditions)

Anything not in storage will soon deteriorate and rust. Meaning vehicles and parts need proper storage.

And when you have all day and night on your hands I would want to make living as comfortable and exciting as possible.

rainwater for things like baths, showers, swimming pool, cleaning machines, irrigation possibly.

Wild animals would be a threat with no medical care.
Their population would explode and they would lose what fear of humans they have.
Also what's it easier to kill animals for meat a shotgun or a proper rifle or sniper gun.
And the main point for fun.

My point exactly, there are no other people in this scenario. Feral animals (dogs mainly) are the only real danger. A hunting Rifle and a standard handgun and hunting Knife is all you will need. Probably wouldn't need the handgun either.

Fun?

there's no people, I'm going to try and blow up canary wharf with a challenger 2 :D

Find a secure location for short term operations.
Stockpile food/water, medicine etc.
Research long term residence.
Make way to new location.
Stockpile again, plant crops, manage livestock.
Shoot guns, drive fast cars then shoot guns while driving fast cars.
Profit.

Granted, but you are ALONE, you cannot do most of this stuff without help. You cannot possibly maintain a city full of buildings, fires, or even an airport however small.

Diesel fuel has a maximum shelf life of 2 years due to bacteria, thats with it being properly preserved and stored. Gasoline is the same, both begin to break down after 30 days. Propane has unlimited shelf life, so Propane generators would be the way to go. Plenty of gas bottles lying about. LPG also doesnt degrade, just make sure the fuel is stored correctly (keep a LPG station up and running or find a farm with one already) so that solves the landrover fuel. A properly maintained landrover would last longer than your ability to use it. The fuel problem would negate the flying also.

All mechanical parts already in storage would be greased and stored to maximize their lifespan anyway, so no need for you to do it yourself.

A sniper rifle is very hard to use, the best way to hunt for animals is trapping, a shotgun would be the easler of the weapons to use if you have too. Body armour would just be un-neccessary.

Farming wouldnt be viable on your own, a small holding would be about the limit of a single person.

As for wild animal explosion, nature has a way of self regulation. Domesticated animals going feral are the biggest threat.

Most buildings are very easy to maintain and why would you maintain a city

I would stock pile the parts I might need in a building I know is safe and being maintained.

You have upto 60 years to keep you occupied with nothing else to do. I would make things as easy to do as possible, whilst living in relative luxury.

A sniper rifle is easy to use, after all it is a normal rifle with a sight. What you mean is hard at long distances again you have decades to kill time.

A small holding is farming. Again with all the parts and technology left around I would make life as easy as possible setting up irrigation and other stuff.

Yes animals will regulate them self but only after a few years possibly decades as food sources left over from human population dwindle.

Remember you have decades of time to kill. I certainly wouldn't be living in a wood hut with no luxurys or fun.
