The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I nearly bought some boosters to fit yesterday for mission running, and then noticed the sheer volume they take up. 400s and 800s are massive, anything smaller isn't worth it tbh.
Fine for a quick PvP match. But I wouldn't want to be trying to carry enough to last more than a few mins.

The Drake is one the most cheap, cheerful and capable ships I've had the pleasure of flying. They're fantastic value for money.

I'm just trying to get my alt trained up to get him in a Drake for some 0.0 ratting if I can find the right place, leaving my main free for PVP.

+1

I forgot how tedious it is waiting for skills to train before being able to do anything. I'm sure it'll be worth it but its frustrating.

To keep me busy and to try and clear some of the cobwebs out does anyone know of any good 0.0 survival guides?

You don't go into 0.0 on your own unless you know what you are doing, you won't make any money because you will die constantly and if you do get any good loot you wont get it back.

If you want to explore try lowsec or worm holes. you need a scanner and scan probes for the latter. Or just do L4 missions like everyone else.

If you seriously want to go into 0.0 you need to join a corp in an Alliance.

My in game name is MHayes, I used to play in the OCUK corp, infact I pretty much started it with RossT who no longer plays and VaderDSL will remember of course back in the day, quit for several years and now play with some buddies from work. We have an Empire corp. smallmotions.com if anyone is interested. But only my alt is in that and I am a member of RAGER in Sys-k Alliance.

I just want to be able to earn a decent amount of isk in order to fund PVP on my main. Perhaps getting into a decent alliance would enable me to rat with one char and do PVP with the other?

ETA

Anyone know anything about the Dark Taboo alliance? Have been chatting to one of their corps and was wondering if anyone had had any dealings with them.

If you want to PVP properly you need to get into a corp in an Alliance. By doing this you will also have access to 0.0 space that should be safe as it will be full of alliance and corp members which you can use to mine high end ore, rat battleships. do level 5 missions or scan down anomalies and complexes.

TBH you can get enough money just doing Level 4 missions in empire with 0% risk but it is a bit boring.

The problem you have is that some of these 0.0 corps have a minimum SP policy so you might have to stay in empire and do L4s for money and faction Warfare for fun which isn't apparently great.

How much SP do you have and can you fly a Battleship capable of doing most Level 4 missions? Many corps want Battleship pilots with T2 guns so they can hit at range.

I missed this battle.

http://www.a-kills.us/?a=kill_related&kll_id=353874

Just on our side there were over 10 titans on the field and many of the new uber SuperCarriers with FighterBombers too.

Over 200 CVA capital ships were slaughtered without a single loss to our fleet.

Apparently they jumped in, after not loading due to lag they jumped back out and then back in again. WTF???

CVA blame lag but it was just as laggy for the other fleet, they just had the sense not to jump in and out of system.

But damn, not seen anything like it. That killboard is crazy.

540 kills for 14 losses! = 242594.09M ISK.

If your side was in the inbound side then the lag is to your advantage as your not having to load the system as your already there in it.

Can fly a BS able to do L4 missions, I just find them boring. Was in the process of training guns when I left (am Caldari) but have decent tanking skills.

I don't actually know how much SP I've got, its somewhere between 7-9 mill I think. Will have to have a look once CCP sort out unbanning my main.

Indeed, which is why although lag didn't help it is all fair,

the uberness of super capitals and silly lag has been known about for a week now.

Due to the fact we brought more ISK to the field in the form of Supercarriers and started off in the system means even if CVA hadn't jumped out and back in they still would have been pwned but that made it 10x worse.

A bit low on SP really with 9m. I am new to my corp so I don't have much leverage to request any favours but I am sure some smaller corps will have you.

0.0 is great but you need to be a bit clever, you can't buy much stuff out there and it is expensive, you need corp mates with capital ships and cyno alts, Also get a jump clone so you can go back to buy and sell stuff and get skills etc.

Once you are in an Alliance and have a few ships out there is pretty easy, just watch local for reds and warp to a SS or POS. And you don't need to go through gates with a decent jump bridge network.

I am pretty loyal to my corp but I only ever have 1 capital out of low sec at a time and all my stuff in 1 station, if we got uber blobbed I could be out of there and back to lowsec in 1 minute with all my stuff. Not that I even need it ;)

They should have just jumped out.

If a fleet is on the inbound side & the lag is big enough the incoming ships can be locked & fired upon before there screen has even come up & i have known some people to be well into amour & more before there screen loads up.

This was the battle for D-G, I was part of the side trying to defend it from -A-, jumping into a system that was far too overloaded was the only way to try and save it.

And you only got those capital kills because your alliance spies got our POS passwords, entered the forcefields, and started ramming our capital's out...

Its fair enough tbh, valid tactic, just a little underhand :P

ok just joined.... Amarr Amarr character and playing through the training missions at the moment. (doing an advanced warfare one)

have upgraded most of the learning skill set to 3+ and have cruiser skill lvl2 but can't afford a cruiser yet!

where should i go from here, 6 days left of trial and will start paying then

whats your in game name always like donating isk to new players thats if u dont mind :D

Played this for a couple of month a while back, if I subscribed again would anyone mind giving me a hand queuing training skills?

Anyway for me to post my last character without subscribing? Then I can see if it's worth starting a new character or not (think I got a t2 thorax last time I played, unsure)

Ideally I'll grab a two month card and just train skills for a few weeks (still got Global Agenda, Mass Effect 2 & Bad Company 2 to play!)
