Jumping Mad (LIGHTING SET UP ADDED)

So I've got 3+ long weeks off work ahead of me pretty much stuck indoors.
lucky I've got a friend to keep me company. He needs feeding, I'll try and catch him some flies later. Although in my current state it will be hard for me to catch a cold!
C+C always welcome.

Outstanding! Just as an alternative; have you thought of using a mirrored/reflective surface? Would be nice to get a bit of shadow going on. How are you getting the coloured background? Coloured sheets in the background?

I'm itching to give some of these a go! This is just macro lens and tubes I am guessing? I have gone a bit 'el cheapo' and bought a clip on Raynox instead which I will attach to my 105mm. I don't know how they compare. How close do tubes get you? 2:1 or even closer? I think the Raynox is about 2:1. Will post some results when I get everything sorted. I do love macro stuff, has always been my little sideline away from landscapes when I am a bit lost for inspiration. Well that and my Holga is my other trusty friend.

Thanks for your help in the other thread. :)

cheers guys.

lens is the tokina 100mm, lighting is from two flash guns, one nikon sb-600 in front defussed and one nissin Di622 behind with a purple coloured gel.

2,3 and 4 were taken with the lens on its own. the rest were with cheapy extension tubes. i ordered some kenko's this morning YAY!

im not sure what magnification you get with a full set of tubes, it must be around 2.1
I've seen good results from the raynox but i always prefered extension tubes, they are just as easy to use and image quality isn't affected as there is no glass elements.

once I've got hold of the kenko's i plan to get a reversing ring so i can mount my 50mm on the end of the tokina to give me a good amount of magnification. Its my attempt at an MPe 65 :)

what 105 do you have martin? im considering getting the nikon 105 vr

I have a Sigma 105mm; I too was tempted in upgrading mainly due to the VR. Although I did use a friends Nikon, but I honestly did not really notice the VR. Perhaps I have mastered that swaying technique ;-)

the Vr isnt really needed for macro, infact if i read right it says in the manual for the lens to turn it off when shooting macro.
big plus point for me is its ment to be very very sharp with great bokeh, got to do some more research though to see if its a worth while upgrade to my tokina

Love them :). Number 2 or 5 are my favourites. He looks very cute! And very well shot!

Edit: In fact, could I have #2 full-size for a dual-screen wallpaper (2880x900)?

I hate you famas :p

I cant find these little critters anywhere, i demand you post him to me :o :D

Great shots as always mate ;)

ace shots, i keep lookin for 1 of these little spiders but not had any luck finding 1, do the tend to fidget about or are they well behaved

cheers.

there tiny spiders, they normaly hide upside down under things, like on the under side of leaves etc.

i might have another go at photographing it tomorrow, if i do i'll take a picture of the set up.

cheers for all the comments.

^^ Awsome Dan!

How have you not lost him yet, he's so small?

stupidly good shots :(

Not jealous at all! Seeing the latter shots puts in perspective how much of a macro you've got in shot one in the post
