Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

What a plonker. I did mean 8600M GT (it's on my Dell Vostro) not 9600. It does feel a little flakey - perhaps 20fps - but it's enough for me to knock a few heads out. :D However, I wouldn't like to use it as the main platform for the game on my spec - I'll be getting it for PS3 until I can afford to build a new PC.

thanks mate, be the same model as mine then as im vostro too.
20fps doesnt sound too bad, I imagine retail will run a little faster, but by then its only weeks till im back on my tower, though my 8800GTS may get a little upgrade :)

@ 45FPS I would hardly says your system doesnt cut it, but it is a new game afterall and your card isnt, but its only a beta so dont worry yet.

I can't believe for one minuite that this card was top dog before the 5 series came out, and it's dated enough to run like a sack of spuds
I'm also thinking along the lines of ati optimisation to test dx11 before it hits the shelves. I'm hoping that's the case anyway

45FPS - 65FPS being a sack of spuds? I'm only getting 20FPS more in DX11, I dont know how much difference that makes from DX10 but I doubt its much, not untill the proper textures are released with the full game any how. I cant say much as I came from a gtx295 myself 2 weeks ago to the 5970 just for this very game, oh and AvsP.

It's good fps but it is laggy and jerky as hell at times.
The framerate doesn't feel like what fraps is saying, that's what I mean like spuds

The beta doesnt support dx11 though......?

Would it be worthwhile me selling my Dual Core E8400 and getting a quad core Q8400 or Q9400?

I can't afford a platform upgrade to i7.

I have a 4870 1Gb, but again can't really justify an upgrade to that. Would a 5870 be much different?

Wait to see how the game runs at retail first tbh. Ive got a quad at 4.1ghz and a 5870 and the game feels very choppy to me. Even though my fps is relatively good.

So what do u think it really is then? All the lagg and choppyness
do u think dice have the rc already made up or do u think there chucking things in and testing the water with beta
I mean the beta and release are not far apart are they

I dont know, I have problems myself, the water/sea and guns flickering all the time something to perhaps do with crossfire, and they have admitted it was still quite broken in the beta and it doesnt include the texture packs the full game will. I hope they do iron things out little, its not far from finished but certainly needs a good polishing imo. We'll have to wait and see, tbh the fixs they need to make are quite small and petty and shouldnt take their team more than a week to sort if they get their heads down, and they havent failed to deliver yet in every step of the way.

Does anyone have any problems getting disconnected at random times with this game? It plagues me on BF1943 on PS3 - roughly 1 in 2 games disconnects in the middle. Never happens at all with BC1 on PS3 but has done with BC2 on PC now.

So your telling me that even tho my system fits well within the game requirments my 295 won't cut it?

I think it is because the game is not optimised for Nvidia yet or something

This.

Don't go buying an ATI 5xx series card just because of these beta issues. The GTX295 is a beast of a card and will remain so for a long time to come. It's not about having to get a new card with DX11 support. It's just a matter of waiting for the final, fixed, product and finalised nvidia drivers. I'm on a 295 myself and my performance is essentially perfect, although I have i7 cpu. Therefore, I think your prob might be with your cpu as opposed to the gfx card.

so you think a q9650 overclocked to 3.8 maybe the root cause of my issue?
Thanks for all the other advise I take it onboard, but my CPU I think isn't the issue

well ive just used Liseda's config tool and for the first time ive been able to disable bloom
its like a different game now !
this is what i was expecting !
found a hardcore server too, now that is so much better, been choppin round in a copter with some random sqadmate killin tanks

i am happy

Does anyone know if you will be able to change your name whenever you want once youve created a character ? i hate this on COD etc, you have people changing there names every single day and you cant keep up with who's who

why does it matter thats the whole point of aliases :D

admin status for the win :p

i just told you why, you have people changing there names spamming in the middle of a game in cod, i like to know whos who and not turning up in a server and finding you have a twin double and if you can change your name randomly there will not be any online stats sites which suprisingly i liked back in bf2, bf2142 days, so maybe a answer to my question instead of a Ghey reply :)
