isnt the 1.4 TSI the 170hp supercharged and turbocharged engine ? So shouldnt be THAT boring afterall ?

R32 is the petrolheads choice. Gti is the choice of the badge snob, whom, like my 8v mk3, is perfectly content with a car called a gti without gti performance. I wasnt! Funnily enough the passat which is simply a PD130 not only outhandles the golf gti I owned, it out performs it in everything except braking.

Absolutey. I've been totally owned by a factually incorrect comment.
Well the passat is staying untill I graduate so im not going to be buying a BMW.
I hope that these have depreciated to around £10k in great condition when I start earning.

So it is... It produces less power than the older car?
your mrs's wont let you purchase the car you want
But those two Bimmers in the garage aren't M5s...
8s 0-100 km/h, not boring by my standards but my standards are obviously lower than people that prefer to drive around in ancient gas guzzlers. It develops maximum torque between 1500 and 4100 rpm.
When did I say that? She will let me purchase the car I want, she just won't let me sell the Golf. Two different things.
